Is Seven the only option for gmail push email still?

I used to use Seven on the Touch Pro 1 but after I do the multiple ROM upgrades, it'll always charge me like 20 cents everytime i set up a new account. I've just been setting up WinMo's default email client to check mail every 5 minutes but it'd be nice to have push email again. Just seeing if there's an alternative to Seven still.

Why not use Google's Google Sync? It brought push email to GMAIL about a year ago.

not sure if you tried this yet but........once in the inbox go to tools, options, tap the email acct you want to sync, select sync schedule, select frequency to as items arrive. ive had it set like this for a min and the emails come RIGHT AWAY!!!! plus it doesnt drain the battery too much.

are you talking about the Options in WinMo's default email app? because when i go to inbox. tools, options, tap eamil account, and then "send/receive schedule", there isn't an otpion that says "as items arrive." unless i have to install a certain program to get this optoiN?

i'll be looking into google sync :)

google sync came out in feb 09, BUT it was missing email option until sept 09. so it was more like 6 months ago. the link in the post above mine will tell you how to set it up OP. quick and painless.

Re: Is Seven the only option for gmail push email still?

all you have to do is open a fresh activesync and click on the link saying "..set it up to sync now", input gmail addy, uncheck auto settings, set the next screen as "m.google.com", next screen insert @gmail.com after username, put in password and thats it. Real push email, this is wat you control from the comm manager with the Microsoft direct push option

edit: OOPS, nvm, exact same instructions in the posted link. never knew that lol, i just figured it out myself

If you use google sync, do not select tasks. It can sync contacts, email and calendar. If you select tasks it will give you an error and push email will not work.

yep. i think you have to set the server as m.google.com not gmail bcuz the auto load server settings didn't work. hopefully they've fixed it by now. i still do it manually anyway

Well you could have the others forwarded to ur gmail. or gmail set to retrive pop or could still have other pop/imap setup on your phone.

Many Many options

Is there some way to have google sync all of your mailboxes? I just set this up and it appears to only be syncing the inbox. If I send mail, I don't have a copy of it on my phone even though I can look on my computer and it shows in the sent mail...

i currently have my live email set for push email. how do i open a fresh activesync? because when i click on activesync, it doesnt give me an option to "set up sync now". if i go to the configure screen, it pulls up my live.com email info. want to use google sync but dont want to lose my live.com push email. another member said he/she has hotmail & gmail use push on his/her device, so its possible to have 2 accounts set up for push email. can someone tell me how i can set up my gmail as a 2nd push email on my phone? . id really appreciate it.

use the Windows Live program that comes on our phones. that will let you get your push email for hotmail. then you use activesync for gmail. if you're using a custom rom that doesn't have Windows Live, then you can get it from market place or you can download the cab here http://mobile.microsoft.com/live/en-...e/default.mspx

not sure what you mean. you setup activesync for gmail and setup windows live for hotmail. that's how a lot of people do it to have push hotmail and gmail.

well i have windows live on my phone. but when i went to active sync to set up gmail, it has my live.com info in the configurations screen. i figured windows live automatically configured the settings in active sync because i havent messed around with it since owning the phone. but based on your post, i can go ahead and just overwrite the live.com settings in my active sync with the gmail settings. thanks for the help.

Why (and how) are you getting charged 20 cents for every account setup with Seven? Are they billing your phone number? And does SERO not get Sprint Mobile Email (Seven powered service) for free like all the modern plans?

tracerit 04-12-2010 03:26 AM

Re: Is Seven the only option for gmail push email still?

the 20 cents charge (it's a double digit cent charge) is for an international text message. i dont' know why they do that, i never receive any text message when i sign up but it happens.

JaxChris 04-12-2010 02:35 PM

Re: Is Seven the only option for gmail push email still?

OH... well I have short code texting blocked, along with international. That would explain the error message I receive via text after I set up each account, because the messages won't deliver. Guess that will be saving me money.

Thanks for the reply.

Sprint Mobile Email is free for SERO users... Have been using it forever with my gmail and it works great to push my emails. Here is the link to the CAB.

Re: Is Seven the only option for gmail push email still?

Sprint Mobile Email is just the commercial version of Seven. If you are using the Beta of Seven to push multiple accounts, all you need to do is connect via wifi or activesync w/ internet connection and disable your phone. The text messages wont be sent but your accounts will be set up. I had Sprint disable international text messaging awhile back so now when I set up Seven after every ROM flash, the text message just gets bounced back to me.
