Is there a such thing as a working GPS for the Sprint Touch Pro?

I dont kno if Im being selfish or anything like that but I would of thought that me having this expensive phone and me paying my bill every month I deserve to have a fully working functional phone. The orignal Touch Pro had its own problems but the GPS worked flawlessly for me and I cant say the same for the for this one. Im on my 3rd TP2 and none of them seem to work for me so is there something Im doing wrong, something I can change in the setting? Or should I continue to complain? I need my gps to work because I travel alot in the summer and I know I could just buy 1 but do I really need to since its suppose to work with the phone? What else can I do beside downloading something.

Have you tried running QuickGPS?

also does it not work at all, or it works sometimes and other times it doesn't?

Yeah make sure you run quickgps to get the satellite locations. I made the mistake of not doing this when I first got my TP2 and I thought it was broken because it would only show 2 satellites and it wouldn't be able to connect to either.

Never ever worked for me no matter where I am. It would connect but then it stops but I never tried the quick gps tho but I doubt that would work .

I use sprint navigation all the time, never once had an issue with GPS.

People that demand that other people hit the thanks annoy the hell out of me.

Whenever I see people demanding that it virtually guaranties I will NEVER thank that poster for anything (although I will continue to thank other people as I do all the time)

The GPS in both TP1s worked fine and in both TP2s also. The TP1 had no slow-down, the TP2s do. However, heat is a factor with long usage, so if you are needing to use a GPS for an extended period of time, consider an inexpensive automotive one. Best Buy has them in the $100 range. I have the Magellan Maestro 4700 Bluetooth enabled device. The Bluetooth to phone connection works, but it is slow to disconnect. What I do like about the Bluetooth feature though is the ability to transfer the contact list to the GPS and edit the information as needed for navigation.

It's free & the 2D maps look real nice (the 3D maps suck), but I found when I tried it for a while that the routes it picked at times where pretty bizarre.

I have a Garmin GPS built in the dash of my truck & comparing the Garmin routing to aMaze showed just how screwy it was at times. I plotted a route from upstate NY to Virginia once & the route amaze picked was 89 miles longer.........

Check to make sure that your GPS software's 'Enable GPS' option is turned on, if it has one. Far too often, people that seemed to complain about the GPS not working have failed to check for and activate such an option. The GPS works just fine on my TP2 and I use Googlemaps with it.

Quick GPS is what makes your GPS work, give it a try. Before using quickgps I would be 'within 500-2500 meters' now I am 'within 10-20 meters' with directional arrow while driving. Also like another user said, if you are using google maps enable GPS.

Mine works fine too (NRG 6.5 ROM). I use either GarminXT or Google maps & it has never failed to get a lock.

I do get a very slight lag in the phone GPS compared to my built in Garmin unit, but it's certainly no deal breaker & the phone GPS has the advantage of more up to date maps/POIs etc.

GPS is really accurate for me, in sprint navigation, updating at the right time after i pass the streets and what not. No complaining here, IMO the Touch Pro 1 had terrible GPS problems.

Re: Is there a such thing as a working GPS for the Sprint Touch Pro?

you guys make me laugh/ gps wise heats not a damn factor. maybe charging wise yes but heat doesnt affect touch pros 2 gps. i run it from 8am till 430 pm m-f my garmin is on. i travel every day. never shut it off between jobs. i have never had a problem. you need to run quick gps. like others say. dont say i dont think its that and not try it. try it before you assume. also what programs are you using for actual directions? garmin tom tom sprint nav? you may need a primer to start the gps if its a no name program. i had that issue in past. thankfully garmin had a built in primer.
