Must know Questions (experts Please Help)
 

Please i need answers from experts ONLY..

after seeing so many people complaint about all the bugs of 6.5. I want to know the following before i make up my mind whether to upgrade or not.


1. Is the upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5 really necessary?

2. I know the 6.5 has a new radio.. can I install that new radio version into 6.1? does my Tp2 need to be unlock to do radio update?

basically the only thing that attracts me to the 6.5 upgrade is the new radio version, I don't use sense/Tflo and my 6.1 is doing just great but if some one can tell me and show me how to update my radio version without having to do 6.5 upgrade that would be awesome and it would save me the headaches of 6.5...

1. I'll simply say no, the upgrade is not necessary at all, it is you're only choice to make, I seem to love 6.5 more though, you can always try a custom ROM though! trust me you will love those.

2. I can tell you that you don't need to flash to new 6.5 ROM but I'm not sure if you need to unlock the TP2 for it... you can just flash to the new ROM though, as it is considered the new "stock" ROM. then you can flash to any other ROM or the old sprint 6.1 ROM.

It is not necessary, you can always unlock and flash a radio yourself. 6.5 adds finger friendly menus and a couple different finger friendly options throughout its interface. Honestly I didn't notice much difference between the two and wouldn't hesitate going back to 6.1

I did the upgrade and noted nothing really outstanding about it, other than some additional themes. Sure it is more finger friendly - the menus are longer due to the additional space. There were times when hitting the OK in the upper right corner did not work because the application I was using was not allowing access to it. I use HanDBase extensively and noted that the date selection function brought up the month's calender that was way too large to be displayed properly - the developer was advised. Exchange did not work properly - it would not maintain contact with the server. These problems totally stops me from considering using 6.5. I went back to 6.1 and life is good again.

So for me, the finger was just not enough to stay with it.

1) It's not a game changer or big step forward IMO.
The 6.5 alone is good but when Sense 2.5 software is laid on top of it, there are some hiccups for the hardware.

It's almost like Vista vs. XP in terms of overhead.

Thank you very much guys for all your feedback.. although i still would like to know if i need to have my TP2 unlock in order to install the new radio version and thank you for the link of the new radio...

Hey, to be honest I'm not sure as my device has been unlocked since i got it. I'm not sure if you must be hardspl unlocked but just try it, worse the can happen is that you will get an error when trying to update to it and then you just pull out your battery and back in, power up phone and its like nothing ever happened :)

Uh.. there's a huge difference between 6.1 and 6.5 if you're not using touchflo. The titanium interface vs the old win-mo style being the most significant. It's obviously not necessary.

I already made up my mind.. I will stay with 6.1 and just update my radio.. Thank you all...

Update: In order to Install Newer Radios You must have your phone Unlock using the Rhodium_W Hard-SPL...
