Sprint TP2 Stock WIFI problem in Cancun Mexico
 

I was just in Cancun Mexico and noticed that I couldn't get internet working on my phone at all. I was in a starbucks which had open internet and I couldn't get it to work.

In the settings screen for wifi, the wifi was turned ON and it also showed a full signal with a Check mark indicating that it was connected to the network. Still, I couldn't connect to Skype, Opera, PIE, or anything at all.

What was going wrong?? What can I have done differently or is this phone locked somehow that it will only use the Sprint Internet connection only?? Shouldn't it work on a open network? Was there a setting that was not correct?

Any feedback or info on this matter is greatly appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is to make sure that the data signal was turned off, and only WiFi was left on... if connected via WiFi properly, it shouldn't matter if you are on the moon in terms of using a valid connection...

A lot of the times for connections like that you need to visit a web page on the device first to "authorize" the connection before any other connections will work.
