Weird Virtual Keyboard Issue
 

I was in the process of using the standard full QWERTY keyboard, switched to numerics to enter a phone number into a new contact and realized that the little box with A/B, that you hit to switch back to alpha, was grayed out and blank. I cant switch out of the numeric mode. switching to the "phone" style or Compact doesn't work either...still stuck on the full qwerty numeric mode. Fortunately, I also have SWYPE, which works fine, as does the hard keyboard. I can get by between the two, but I'd like to have the stock virtual keyboards back. I know I can do a hard reset but I just did one and it took me an hour to load all the cabs and get it back to where I wanted it.
Any ideas??????????

I've had this issue too, very strange. Disappeared all of a sudden and started working fine. I can't figure out what was originally wrong and how it corrected itself.

you using the stock rom or the 6.5 upgrade?

Swype would be my first guess. Try to uninstall it then soft reset and see where you stand- btw, Which version are you using?

Using the Stock Sprint 6.5.. Both the SWYPE and STOCK keyboards were fine until this happened.

OKAY!!! Found the FIX:
it was possibly the clean up cab. did u use the same one used for 6.1?
from the first post in the clean up cab thread...
When enabling Classic Word Correction, Opera users may experience an issue in which the soft keyboard gets stuck in web or numeric mode. To avoid/correct this, click in the "Search" section below the address bar (instead of the address bar) before exiting Opera.
