Is there a way to have the SMS show a name instead of the number.
 

I have not been able to find a thread that addresses my question. I have a Sprint TP2 with the Sprint 6.5 stock ROM. Is there a way to have the SMS threading list the sender's name instead of the phone number? The number in question is in my contact list.

add the number as a contact...it'll show up as name then.

The number is already in my contact list as I stated in my post. Any other suggestions?

try to delete the thread. your next incoming text should have the name.
you probably received the first text before they were added as a contact

is it in your contact card exactly as it comes in on the text? area code and proper spacing and all that

They are showing in the SMS thread as ########## instead of how they are stored in the contact list as (###) ###-####. The phone auto formats the phone number. Any suggestions?

+1 on this. this happened to me before and i couldn't figure it out. until i deleted the message from that particular person. and messages after that started showing the contact name.

Thanks! I guess each new one I have I will have to do this. Strange part is that all of the messages I have received are from people that have been in my contact list forever. Oh well, at least with ya'lls help I'll know what to do if/when it happens again. Thanks!!!
