Selling a TP2...
 

Well I'm 90% sure I'm going to move on to the Evo and was looking for a little advice on selling my TP2. I know there are yardsale forums like craigslist and sites that will buy it from me, but which one will get me the most? I have a charger and all of the original materials (CD and whatnot) and want to sell when the EVO drops but I've never had to sell a phone before because Sprint has always just upgraded me. Sprint is giving a little over 100 bucks right now and another site estimated me for a little less than 200. What is everyone experience selling phones and how does it work with Sprint? Do I tell them I'm selling my phone and getting a new one. I really don't have anything to go off of and any help would be appreciated. :)

wow.. 100.. less than 200? i just purchased mine of craigslist locally in houston tx.. and i tell ya, i could NOT find a sprint touch pro 2 for less than 350.. i had a few 300$ deals fall through but.. yeah i paid 350 for mine.. and i was happy to get it, i sold a samsung moment for 200 so that payed for most of it, but if i were you keep in mind NOT alot of people actually have the sprint touch pro 2, and even less have the verizon one. just depends on were you live, but i wouldn't take less than 300 if you choose craigslist, its a rule of thumb most "buisnesses" wont pay what it's worth .

from what i've seen ebay is usually selling higher then craigslist. the thing is though craigslist is more convenient and you can meet them up and get the money right there and then. also with ebay you have to deal with shipping,and fees

lol thanks, thanks alot, it took me forever just to find one that was with sprint.. let alone under 350, but yeah it was all still wrapped up in it's stuff although it was missing the case, were the sprint's sposed to have a leather case?

Gazelle is awesome. mrgoodcat sold his tp2 there and i sold my tp2. they pay about $220 for a tp2 in good condition...

220 just seems to cheap... i kno it's not the best phone around, but it's worth more thatn 220... id stick with going to craigslist before you try a website.

i agree 220 is really cheap, but it is easy to sell with them... a lot of people are getting the hd2 and other new phones so there are a lot of tp2s being sold. they are only selling for 200-300 right now

If your a VIP member of Sprint, or what they call Premier then after 1 year of service you get $150 credit (sign 2 year agreement) towards a upgrade...Not sure if you knew that but thats what I plan on doing....Keeping my TP2 and buying the Evo with the $150 credit at my 1 Year (Aug. 1st).

So I should try craigslist or ebay? My phone is in SUPERB condition except for the day I wasn't paying attention and left it in a bag with some keys. It has one noticeable scratch and I have since put on a screen protector which masks most of the scratch. The rest of the phone is pristine and I would be able to flash the normal ROM and re-lock it for anyone to buy it. Do you think I could get 275-300 ish near the EVO release?

Yeah I have that credit coming my way but I really wanted to come out even or above even on the upgrade to EVO. If I applied that credit and the mail in rebate I'm sure the'll offer it would probably only cost 200-250 with a new contract. I just want to sell my TP2 to cover that cost.

I actually just sold my old instinct on ebay that i had before i switched to my tp2, and sites were offering like 40 bucks for it, and i ended getting 95 off ebay for it. Don't sell it to any business, $250-$300 seems like a rock bottom price to go for that phone, any lower is a rip off.

theres no mail in rebate involved at a 1 yr upgrade. even for "vip" members. you have to be 22 months into a data plan and be renewing a contract for another 2 yr plan to recieve a mail in rebate. the only discount you will recive is the 150 dollar upgrade credit. i found this out the hard way with a hero a few months ago. it was on sale at the sprint store for $169 (269 before m.i.r.) they told me not only could i not get the new customer price($169? but that i would have to pat full price ($549) minus my 150 dollar "upgrade", for a total of $399 lus tax. no m.i.r. because i hadnt finished my contract yet. i was at the 1 year mark on the 2 year contract.

I wish it was good to know. I wish I'd be able to buy a decent in the future and activate it under my sero plan. Unfortunately, those days have come and gone:(

I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do when the next gen of phones hit the US market. The EVO is sexy, but going from $30 to $70 isn't.

I'm out of my 2 year contract and am a premier member. I'm signing another 2 year contract when I get the EVO. So I'm looking at $250 in upgrade credit and m.i.r.

nice. mines up in november. ive never been out of contract i always renew about a month before its up. phones i want are just coming out faster and faster. typically, i hold out for the good upgrade. if you go renewing way before its up, youll never have a chance to haggle your way in to some perks. as far as the other guy was sayin about sero, if you can get an employee discount, plus haggle real hard at renewal time, you can get close to a sero price. i got 2 unlimeted lines with lots of extras, and with my work discount, im comin in at 95 bucks a month! i love that stuff. most other carriers wont let you use your discount on all lines.

I've been lucky with insurance. I've got the repair insurance and they upgraded me from a mogul to the tp to the tp2. My contract was up in November so I've been waiting

i think that by this november when mine is up, they will have a plethora of badass phones. i heard 12 4g devices by the end of the year, so knowing sprint, lets expect maybe 5. at least one of those should have better specs than the evo.(at least i hope so!)

right now you can probably get $350 for the tp2(i got mines for 300 in the month it was released.)keep in mind that there like video games so when the next big game come around (evo)its worth will drop.200-275 in my eyes is way to cheap.i might hold off upgrading since my contract is up in december i wanna see what they have to offer me lol.

I just sold one on here for $275 shipped. I thought that was fair. I'[m sure it will drop another $75 in value when the EVO hits. Peeps are gonna be trying to unload them real fast.

set it for 300 in ur local market for craigslist, ull get that much , or set it for 350, and let someone come back to you with 300 :) <--- best way to go, that's what id do anyways.

the tp2 came out at 350.00. the evo will probably be the same price. sprint doesn't discount htc very well at all. good luck though. i'm holding out for a hardware kb 4g phone.

fyi, i did the sprint premier renewal and they gave me full discount plus mail in rebate on the tp2. less than 22months on contract.

Do both. You can always cancel the eBay listing if you sell it through Craigslist, and you don't get penalized in any way whatsoever. It's just when the listing ENDS and you don't ship to the buyer... that's another story.

I've been seeing TP2 go for a lot on eBay. So really, take the advice of the people who said to try and sell it for 275/300/350 through eBay or Craigslist. I don't think you can lose!

No, the Sprint TP2 doesn't come with a leather case. I was upset, because the cases for the Mogul and the TP1 were too bulky for my tastes with those silly belt clips on them. Then I saw on PocketNow.com that the Euro version came with the sleek leather case that doesn't take up extra room if you put it in your pocket to protect from scratches from keys and the like. Then I got my brand new TP2, and no case!

My wife sews and reuses old ladies' leather coats from goodwill. I'm going to have her make me a leather TP2 case for $0 :)

I wish I had another phone to go to lol. I've got people PMing me about it but I cant sell yet. Hopefully we get the release date soon so we can saturate the market with them

Premier customers receive a full credit ($150 + mir + instant discount) towards the price of new phone with a 2 yr. contract renewal every 12 months. I sell em at an indirect retailer and if we sold upgrades without the MIR I'd hear about much more often.
