Have a TP2? Test Drive an EVO

According to Engadget, Sprint is waiving all fees in connection with a new phone purchase for 30 days if you are not satisfied. Seems to be a long term policy starting tomorrow. Seems like a great way to test drive an EVO if you are with another carrier and curious about how Android or the EVO will perform compared to Winmo.

Great post.....THIS is why I love Sprint and will never leave them. I keep telling people that Sprint is THE BEST!!! And with the new lineup of phones on the way I think sprint will take back a huge market share.

Actually..this has always been the case (it is required by law that they do)..just seems like they are promoting it to get people to try the EVO when it comes out.

this is more encompassing. before, you were subject to a 33 percent restocking fee on the full price of the phone + taxes wernt reimbersable. this seems to be no strings attached.

IF they or any carrier wants new customers, I'd like to see them say they will PAY for your ETF should you have to pay one to come to them.

Of course, they might be limits like if you do this to bounce from carrier to carrier within a 6-month period, they could potentially flag you as being a flight risk and bar you altogether.

Verizon has been doing this for quite some time, as well as US Cellular.
30 days to decide if you wanna stay.
No charges if you don't.

Sprint forever.

Well according to the Engadget slide, Verizon and AT&T could charge you a restocking fee and they charge you for any plan minutes you use. Sprint seems to wave all charges as in no out of pocket fee if you turn it in within 30 days.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.3521/1114; U; en) Presto/2.4.15)

Great. This will make it even harder to get the EVO now. Everyone will use it for 29 days and return it. Guess it won't be hard getting a refurb.

I switched to ATT for a short time a while back, and they charged a pro-rated price for the minutes used. Reading this make it seem like there would be Zero charges at all!

"Full monthly service plan charges"
"Taxes and Fees associated waved"

Maybe I should cancel my service and start a new line every 29 days!

Talk about "Free and Clear" LOL

and use google voice so you get 1 number all the time? lol

but usually you don't get charged restock fee or anything...I've seen many order 30 days and pay nothing.

I left Sprint 3 times within a month over the years, and never incurred the charges you mention. Perhaps it's up to the individual, but based on past experience this has been Sprint's policy for a long time.

Now AT&T on the other hand.... I bought an iphone the first day of release. Within a couple hours I knew it sucked. No flash, no downloads from the web, etc, etc. I went to return it less than 24hrs later. 10% restock fee ($60). When I went ballistic about this never being mentioned to me, the sales guy pulled out a bag, turned it around, and pointed to fine print at the very bottom stating the return policy. Of course this was faced away from me during purchase, and NEVER EVER mentioned (their policy was 30 day returns on every other item in the store). As I sat there watching, I saw 3 more sold, and each guy turned the bag around so the tiny return policy notification was facing away. Lol. Years later and I still have to vent=P

amp'd mobile screwed me about 6 yrs ago. i was told since i returned thier pos razrs after one weekend, there would be no charges. i bought all this at best buy. i took the phones back and they gave me all my money back, including the down payments and what have yous. i got the prorated amp'd bill about 6 weeks later for about 100 dollars. minutes and some other shizz. i tried to contest it all over the place, but it went nowhere. i think they knew it was uncollectable, because it never showed up on my credit. also, supposedly, you could get by with this once at sprint before, if you were a first time customer. after that, your in the system and shoulnt be able to slide on this.

I dont think so. As far as I know they were like every other carrier and you had to atleast pay for the minutes you used (prorated of course) . this is the first time Ive ever heard of not even paying for the minutes you used, pretty impressive

Well if this were 1826 we could just handshake and go on our marry ways. But it's 2010. You should know by now to read any and all fine print. Many salesmen and women have become "used car salesmen" and they're slimy and deceitful. Of course, if you had the money to buy an iPhone the day it came out, I'm not sure you really missed the $60 all that much, did you?
