Send Contact via SMS not working in 6.5 Stock Sprint?
 

Forgive me if this has been addressed before. I did a search and do not see it, particularly in regard to this latest Sprint stock 6.5 ROM.

Currently running Stock 6.5, Touch pro 2 cleanup cab, no other SMS related changes/mods.

When I try to send a contact via sms with the built in menu options I get an immediate error window: "Your text message cannot be sent." When I close (X out) of the error window it says "error synchronizing" in the bottom left hand taskbar of the SMS inbox window. The failed SMS is placed in drafts. Whats the deal? Is this a known issue? I can't get it to send contact info (like a number) via SMS ever with the built in menu options with allow it.

i just sent a test email vcard to myself. it sent out as a mms with an attached file. hmm

i had this happen also, had to send it vcard, not any other way...i am telling you, 6.5 is about to go in the trash..how they turn out this garbage.

So it just plain doesn't work!?! It's not unique to me.

Nobody seems too concerned about this? Surely I'm not the only one experiencing it? Seems to be a major bug?

I'm having the same problem, but I'm using MightyROM (which is based on the Sprint Stock 6.5). After doing a little bit of research, it seems that sending a contact via MMS is the only implemented option on Sprint. When you start a SMS message and add a vcard, it is converted immediately into a MMS message. I think what's happening is that Sprint forgot to disable contact sending via SMS in Manila (an option available on other carriers) so when the SMS with embedded contact information gets into the SMS outbox, it fails. If you choose Send using MMS, it will work.

No, it's not a 6.5 thing, Chunkee, it's an HTC thing.

It would be nice to get rid of the Send using SMS button, but at least MMS works.

Try using the native WM6 contacts application, open the desired contact. Menu>send contact>sms>the parts of the contact you wanna send & voila it gets sent as a vcard. Try it.
