I hate this stock keyboard from Sprint in the 6.5 rom, I text without the keyboard being open and there is no space key. Can anyone recomend a good keyboard?

there used to be thread in the software forum i think with tons of keyboards in it to chose from... but finger keyboard, touch (ez)input work pretty straight.. everyone has different likes/dislikes though

I'm a little confused i've used all the on screen keyboards on the 6.5 rom and they all have a space key where the 0 key is and the qwerty board has a space key, but swype is a good program i know that it's floating around in a few threads.

When I go to respond to a text, I have the screen as if I was entering a url. With the .com key where the space bar should be.

Maybe something you installed is messing with the soft keyboards i just tried replicating your problem and i can't get them not to show the spacebar, unless i click on the url address in opera like you stated.

This is what I use, Here is a picture to help you decide if you want to try it. I dont hate the display keyboard but I do wish it was bigger. I use this mod keyboard becuase it adds some size to the one we already have. I find it actually helps speed up the process on the 2.5 roms, but thats only my opinion.

The second cab I added also helps swype by doing the same thing, adding some additional property to the keys. Hope this helps

SPB Screen shot, free app. http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2008/11/...ws-mobile.html
Then I use Opera to go to my photobucket account. when you google photobucket with Opera google directs you to photobucket mobile, you can upload pics from your phone instantly to photobucket through opera.

Then I can post the pic with its image link via TP2 or computer.

something is wrong with your phone... that keyboard layout should only show up when you're trying to type in the web browser url bar... when you're texting it should have a giant spacebar there... i'll upload a pic in a second.

edit: there ya go, pic is up and that's in the messaging app - stock 6.5 tp2 rom. maybe u installed something that messes with the keyboard? a hard reset will revert it to normal, but it will wipe all data on device, so be prepared to start over.

WHAT HAVE YOU INSTALLED? we can't help until we know what you did to have it show up like that... it's definitely not like that by default.

Re: Stock Sprint keyboard sucks!

BTW, I have 6.1 stock and I get the same keyboard layout. BUT it only occurs when I'm in Opera and inputting websites in the address bar. I believe its designed this way since you really aren't suppose to use spaces in web addresses, right? :silent:

Anywho, the standard keyboard layout with the large spacebar occurs in every other case.

Is anyone else getting something different?

Your right, for stock 6.1 and 6.5 it automatically gives you the layout without space when inputting an address into your web browser. and in every other case whichever keyboard layout you have set as default.

the problem is his won't switch to the standard layout for some unknown reason. on the new 6.5 rom

yeah sucks going that route if you installed any cab's after updating i would try and get rid of those one by one and see if you can resolve the problem before going the clear storage route and having to update your contacts and all that again.

Good luck though

I had the same issue. What worked for me was going into Opera, and clicked into the URL bar, so the .com keybard showed up. Then I clicked below it in the quick "search" box and the standard keyboard appeared.

Then I quit Opera and it has been fine since. I haven't had the problem again so I have no way of verifying if this really fixed it or just a coincidence.

Re: Stock Sprint keyboard sucks!

I just thought of this (thanks to tubesaq's post) since we've been racking our brains trying to figure out whats wrong and never asked this basic question, have you tried changing the keyboard to a different type like phone keypad besides qwerty. Using the small arrow next to the keyboard icon on the center of the bottom bar? i know it's a simple question but I'm curious if it's just the one layout or all.

I tried that first, but it didn't give me the option to change to a different "layout." I think going into Opera solved it.

I think this is related GoodThings2Life's tweak cab

 OK well hopefully he gets it working, have't used the tweak myself since i like having some of the stuff that the tweaks adjust, maybe we'll find out what he has installed too and try trial and error that way. i personally use swype.

thanks for everyones imput, i have installed gt2l clean and tweeks cab. custom taskbar, no curtains cab, glossy black slider b4all pages, personalizer 3.1, no calander page, 16 quicklinks cab, google maps and govomo. Im a little confused out of those programs which of them would interfere with a stock keyboard file.

thanks Tubsaq, you idea worked like a charm. I think your right I think it has something to do with the tweek cab. This is the second time it has done this to me. first resulted in a hard reset second your help fixed that. I appreciate it.

to upload, you have to "Go Advanced" and scroll down a bit on your phone. you'll see the upload button.

Thanks! This worked for me.

I have a clean 6.5 stock rom, with G2TL tweaks and HTC Task Manager installed.

I have the same issue as you with not having a space key. Must be the tweeks cab.

Edit: Yep and that fix corrected it. Thanks guys. Very odd

Re: Stock Sprint keyboard sucks!

i had the same issue but couldn't do a thread cause i was at school so i was furious at school cause it took for ever to txt ppl. so i ended up doing a hard reset. i also used the gt2l cleaning for sprint and other cabs. but im not sure if it was the cabs or the actual cleaning some of the sprint stuff from gt2l....? so does anyone know what was the cause of this weird keyboard without the space bar...
