Im not sure if anyone asked this question already but I recently tried to install this reg tweak on the new energy rom (7/3/2010) 6.5.X w/ cht and it didnt work, not even with the patch from the first page. Is there a way u can get this working for the new energy rom because I really liked that feature

Even if u cant, thanks anyway for ur hard work!!

If you have time, test it again on a CLEAN flash. Check that you are heard before you install, and after.

I don't see any reason why this would affect talking. It only modifies one registry key and all the entries inside of it.

I will next time I know I am going to have to hard reset. That may be a while. Phone is almost where I want it now as far as my mods go, so not willing to chance that.
Will keep thread updated though whenever I have to hard reset.

There are no files in the cab just registry entries.

I had this on my phone, and while the program itself runs just like it should. It seems like it was way off on the calls.

I had my brother call me (We are both in Ravenna, Ohio) and it said the call was coming from Youngstown, Oh.

Is this because that is just where the closest (Sprint) tower happens to be at or what? Either way though, with it being off like that, The program really does not help (for me anyway).

Still however, I appreciate all the hard work you put into this app, and will hit ya with a Thanks.

From Post #1
NOTE:
1. THIS IS NOT AN APPLICATION. This is a registry tweak. There is nothing running in the background to slow down your device!
2. I spoofed my phone number to get the examples pictured below. The (710) area code is reserved for government use ONLY [so I hope I didn't dig my own grave my spoofing my number to that!]
3. As you know, an area code can cover a massive number of cities. I used the most recent area code database, which listed every city covered by the area code. Within each area code, the largest metropolitan cities were indicated. I mapped the coverage of the area code and selected the most central of the major cities. Therefore the reported location gives a general idea of where the number originates from.
4. I am receiving reports from many VZW ROM users that the location information is not shown on the incoming call screen. Please see below for a fix.

I skimmed over the list a few times to check for spelling mistakes/typos, but it is possible that I missed something. If you get an incoming call and, for example, it says "Toldeo, Ohio" instead of "Toledo, Ohio", or perhaps the location information is too long and therefore cutoff the screen, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I will update the tweak to ensure the mistake is corrected.

[For any Texas A&M Aggie fans, a user requested a tweak to the 979 area code, which I have posted here.]

No registry entries in the cab either. I opened the cab with WinCE, and tried to export the reg but it told me there were none.

That is to be expected. This only works with default HTC dialers that show the caller location.

Just install the cab. The XML does the magic for you ;)

Yeah, I fully expected it. Wasn't complaining. It did work on my Tilt 2 for the few days before I installed S2U2. I haven't removed it in case I decide to stop using the S2U2 caller ID function. Thanks for the work.=D>

No problem. If S2U2 adds that functionality, I'd imagine it would look at the same reg entries for the data. But I doubt that's on the top of the developer's to-do list :P

Exactly why I might stop using it. The stock dialer presents a fairly good-sized caller ID pic, unlike the LG Incite I was using that gave you a teeny-tiny pic that was nearly useless.

ok and?

I was just saying that I don't like the wide range, not narrow enough for me. I don't need you to quote something I have already seen.

Once again, I gave thanks for the hard work put into this, its just not for me.

sammich you are nicer than me. you take the time to make registry tweaks to EVERY DAMN AREA CODE IN THE COUNTRY, and people complain because they live in podunkville and so it's not the same for them.
Really simple, use any registry editor, go to where the registry settings for caller id are (they are in this thread) and find your area code. Change it to your liking. You can put whatever you want in there.
Thanks for the cab, I'm gonna dive into the registry of my hd2 when I get a chance and see if I can find where it hides the same settings.

I've been using this with the VZW fix posted on the first page with TimberWolf's 9.7.1 Titanium rom. Here is the link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=118646

the problem is that the dialer that energy cooks into his ROM does not support the location feature of the caller id (the ones that do originally give you the state only).
What Sammich did was to go into those registry settings that had the state for each area code and added the city (based off an area code list, which is why your city might not be the one used for a certain area code).
If your dialer doesn't support this (and energy's doesn't) then you can't use it.

No, on Verizon but it should not make a difference as the dialer would be the same.

ack, I must've done something wrong! The phone won't boot into titanium and it goes straight from the t-mobile startup to a glitchy graphic screen with an image of one of my photos.

Wait. I'm an idiot. It's CDMA. No wonder.

So, we need a GSM rom that supports area code locations. Dun dun dun. In the meantime, I brought down the Energy reference ROM to see if I can get the latest Energy stable on my TP2. I'll play with that.

It's the EnergyROM issue. He's using a different dialer, and I'm not sure how to fix it. It doesn't seem to draw the registry keys form the same location.
