Re: [NEW!]City AND State of Area Code on Incoming Call Screen

I am using the stock vzw 6.1 rom and no state shows up. So that is weird. Is it possibly a reg edit that the verizon rom is missing?

Looks good! I'd recommend:
519 and 226 'Southwestern Ontario (Canada)'
905 and 289 be changed to 'Southeastern Ontario (Canada)'
The pairs are overlapping sets that coverage large geographical area.

502 area code. Yes it does include Frankfurt,KY but it is mainly Louisville, KY

Frankfort seems to be further within the state lines, plus it's the capital... However it seems Louisville is quite a bit more densely populated. Could you find me a map of suburban Louisville so I can match the county lines? If Louisville covers a helluvalot more area than Frankfort, then its more likely someone calling from that area code would be from Louisville.

Hmm.. I loaded it and I live in area code 856 which covers a LOT of southern NJ.. When I am at work in PINE HILL NJ and the phone # I call from is a Berlin NJ exchange, it onyl says CAMDEN.. I guess there is no way to fix since its only looking at 856 and not 856-xxx

That is correct. The database is limited to only working with the first 3 digits. If I could specify more digits, this would be even more accurate!

Thanks, Sauman! I tried on my VzW TP2 running a stock 6.1 rom. No luck. ](*,) How do I get the state (or, after your cab, the city/state) to show up on the call screen? :???:
Thanks.

To be honest, I'm not sure how the VZW dialer has the area code lookup disabled. A few other users have reported that it's not working on stock VZW, so if someone finds a solution, I'll update the first post.

Any suggestions on a compatible dialer? And what about those that say you shouldn't mess with the dialer on a stock rom? Thoughts? THANKS>

Personally, I wouldn't mess with the dialer unless it has been tested and ALL the features work. But I'm not even sure which dialer would enable this on ROMs that lack the feature! I will update the first post if anyone suggests working dialers.

Thanks Saumaun!
Tough release to put out since obviously everyone's got a more local name for a section of a major metro area - you probably knew you'd have to go through the "can you make _____ into ______"...
but great job!

Thanks! You're absolutely right - I was bracing myself for a bunch of requests to switch the labels lol. If anyone can show me a map or give a valid reason why one should be changed, I'll update the cab! I just want to make sure that the areas shown are the most central/major cities so that the general area is more accurate than before.

Yup, like I said above there seems to be something missing on the VZW dialer. I will let everyone know if someone finds a solution!

Louisville merged with the county so now Louisville is all of jefferson county, 383 sq miles, 713,877 population after merger. This is much larger than frankfort, KY city limits, 15 sq miles, 27,741 population.

and updated the first post

Thanks

Well that metropolitan area includes four indiana counties which I don't agree with counting. So I go with the county population. :evil4:

How can I resist complying with a request for something for an Aggie fan?

Here's a cab that will only overwrite the 979 area code to say "Aggieland, Texas (Gig 'em!)"

NOTE:
1. You must have the cab in the first post installed first
2. You must install this cab again if you install an update from the first post

Ahem..... Hi Saumaun, how are ya'? Was just wondering..... for the Austin, TX, can we have something about "Hook Em Horns"?? I'd love you forever! ;-)

EDIT: The below I can google - sorry!
Actually, how do you edit xml files from cabs that we download? I probably need some sort of editor that isn't free, huh?

Re: [NEW!]City AND State of Area Code on Incoming Call Screen

you should start a collection of "school chants" DB. So if someone from austin calls, it says HOOK EM or college station it says GIG EM. just an idea but it may be too exhaustive as there are tons of schools in each area code. I will edit my own!
