op, use this. its mapped to longpress powerbutton and you have 3 options/poweroff/softreset/screenoff.

that still requires you to push the same button right, the top button?

if op is looking for the same thing i am that doesn't solve the problem unless I am incorrect.

i gave the op an option to turn screen off without giving up softkey, better imo. he can use a actionscreen that maps to softkey if he wants to use softkey. ill post the actionscreen.

darren, do you know where ShutXP installs itself? Do you know the name/path of the EXE?
Medium Hill's ROM uses it, but I'd like to map it to a quick link...

all i know is its mapped to powerbutton.

Ok, found it. It's at: Windows\psShutXP_nosc.exe
...at least that's how it's cooked into Medium Hill's ROM.
Next question: what does the Today Icon radio button do?

It gives a softkey on the standard windows 6.1 type home/today screen. So, if you check that, and then turn off touchflo (or Windows Default, or whatever overlay prog you're using) in Settings --> Today --> Items, then uncheck your overlay prog., or put a checkmark in "Date" or something, then hit ok. Go back to your home screen/today screen, and everything will look tiny and bring you back to the days of WinMo 6.1. You will then see a power icon that will pop up psShutXP. To reverse, go back to Today settings and put the checkmark back in Touchflo/etc.

Re: Softkey for Turning Off Screen

just map to a simple one-line mortscript:
sleep.mscr
Code:

PowerOff
This only puts the device into sleep mode, same thing as the power button up top when pressed and released.

I use this in my ROM, as well as one for soft-reset, so if you cannot write a one line file I can post them for you.
