Cabs to Disable Unused DEVICES (not services)

7 Attachment(s)
Attached are some cabs you can use to some of the devices you don't use to manual (they will not run).

Here is another post with a bunch of cabs to disable services.

CLICK ME

Why am I doing this?

If it is running and not doing anything for you, it is using your precious power and memory.

Hopefully the cabs are self explanitory.

Additional Info
  • Install the BlueTooth cabs if you do not intend on using BlueTooth
  • Install the GSensor cab if like me, you get annoyed with autorotation and can live without the games.
  • I think anyone can install the SmartCard cab unless you actually use one.
  • TVOUT - same thing. Got cables? NO; then install it.
  • REBOOT REQUIRED
  • You can enable and disable devices using DotFred's Task Manager
Athough I have not taken any scientific measure, these seemed to really help my battery life.

Click thanks if these help you...

Any chance of you deleting your post. I was just trying to add a reserved post, but you were way too quick on the response.

Thanks and let me know how they work for you. I have been using them for two days without issue.

SmartCard is a plastic credit card looking thing with a digital certificate on it used for two factor authentication.

I am not sure, but the only thing that might be effected by disabling this is certificate based VPN authentication (but I don't think it will be a problem).

TV out cables let you plug in to a TV using the mini USBex cables.

Many military agencies require the use of SmartCards and two factor authentication. The smartcards are usually read using an external device. The service is there to support that. I am not sure an external SmartCard reader actually exists for our phones.

Anyway, you can always enable the device if it causes you any pain.

They should uninstall and be enabled after a reboot. I honestly have not tested it though. I added a link to a tool in my main post you can use to start and stop them manually and also change the startup setting just in case.

ok thanks, worst comes to worst, i'll hard reset and run sahsimi. HAHA
anyways, you my friend, should get in touch with someone and code a GUI version of all your tweaks into one cab. that way all we need to do is load your cab and turn stuff on without installing stuff one by one. kinda like a BSB tweaks

I could actually make a UI if I did not have a day job. Anyway, I much preffer to build these and run UC so I can flash my phone and be right back where I started on a new ROM in 10 minutes.

I have been putting together a tutorial on how I do it here: CLICK ME

Before TEST
10 mins test.
Now Readin @ 30MA
Avg Reading of 10 mins @ 93MA
NO PIC/GRAPH SUPPORT

After Intalling
Ninja Duck Disable DRV - SmartCard.cab
Ninja Duck Disable DRV - TVOUT.cab

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...1&d=1268370890

RESULTS ARE STUNNING.... definitely recommended
my previous test (graph) showed a lot of polling and random jumps in battery usage. after installing those 2 cabs, i only experience one peak after 8 mins

It is a nice compliment to be offered donations for something so simple, but I would feel like a thief accepting them to build something that already exists.

You can do what you are asking for from DotFred's Task Manager today. It may not be the UI you imagined, but it works great.

Thanks

I am very intrigued by this. how do you do it in Dotfred task manager? I tried to go to the devices tab and it says not supported in this version. I am using version 3.1,

It works on mine (v3.1). You can also go to the services tab and set things to manual (i.e. bluetooth sync or ms myphone) if you don't use them. You can always revert the setting "if it causes you pain".

I run mine from my sd card as well. Attached is the one I use. I'll also check my Sashimi reg folder and see if I import any settings for it when flashing. Post back if I find any.

YEs but dotfreds you have to know what your doing find the service now I can do all that but we are in a forum of users who arent so lucky to be able to figure most things out so a nice looking easy to use GUI would be so nice. Ill up the donation to $30 with all your mods in one like say Diamond Tweaks instead Ninja Tweaks

I hear you. In another life, I would have been all over it. What I need is time and not Money.

Do you right UIs? If so, I can give you all the setting you need to control. Have at them if you like.

I do sitting on my butt paying people to do stuff lol. Seriously all the work your doing put it into on handy little app you release stuff almost daily you could just use AppUpdate and everyone would be happy and blessed.

Anyone else want to throw in a few bucks to get a new tweaks app??? All the others arent playing very well and arent supported anymore either

I think you captured the problem exactly. If I was to do this, I would have had to mentally signed up to keep the app up to date.

As much as I am flattered by the request and willingness to fund the project, I simply am afraid of commitment (ask my wife).
