Storage memory critically low

This message has been constantly popping up. I have uninstalled all my apps from my device to my storage card since that change has been available. all my pics are on my card, and I keep emails and text at a low number.

What can I safely erase to make more free space??

are you on a stock rom?

some apps you have to install to the phone. its ok but yeah it can give you that error.

soft rest from time to time and make sure you dont have a lot of programs running at the same time. that will give give you that message every time.

pic on the card wont do anything.. i have close to 3gb on my card now and i never get that.

go into opera settings and clear the cache periodically... for some reason this sucks up alot of mem.

Re: Storage memory critically low

As mentioned above, clear your internet browser caches and temp files from Main Storage Memory, and make sure to set your attachments and caches to save to micro SD card. Also, consider installing ClearTemp, it's freeware that you can install to help free up main storage as well as much more.

Check out this thread link for more tips: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=111584

Here's a link for latest version of ClearTemp (v1.3) by Developer Vicott Wong:

Hope this helps,

Does cleaning your RAM help keep the memory down, seems every time i clean the RAM it says i have saved this much memory? Why is it that the RAM never gets totally cleaned?

not really.. if youre running a custom rom the clean ram program is slightly crippled, nothing is better than a soft reset... but the 'critically low mem' is about storage mem, not RAM. and the only way to clean that is deleting programs you have installed to the phone.. or by following what RHACY posted.

thanks for the help! sure enough close to 10MB in the first folder listed above.

can i safely delete the NFL and NASCAR junk or will it come back when i soft reset?

any other files i can safely delete, or other areas to free up space?

thanks again!

Go into Opera and in the address bar type in opera:config with no http or www prefix and no .com and this will take you to opera preferences. scroll to disk cache and click on that. while in that section, click to checkmark the box that says empty on exit then scroll down to save and click save. then exit browser. this will clear the opera cache every time you exit opera through the opera menu not the htc task manager. to clear the internet explorer cache you can do that through the browser. when i was on stock rom i had deleted nfl, nascar and tv from the programs folder in the root memory of device. some of those same files are also in windows directory and not removable from there, but deleting it in the programs folder will give you about 10 mb of rom memory. then go into the Temp folder at the root of device and delete everything in there. another folder to delete everything in is the volatile folder that you will find inside the Application Data folder. only delete what is inside the volatile folder. also if google maps is installed, make sure it is installed on the sd card and make sure it's cache is there as well. Everything that has been said above will help you. can you tell me what programs you have installed if all this does not help

In the temp and volatile folders I have found loads of subfolders. Is it safe to delete all these subfolders? Or do I need to go into the subfolders and delete the files found in there only?

Thanks for all the help!

You can delete everything in the volatile folder but do not delete the volatile folder itself, nor should you delete the Application Data folder. The same with the Temp, delete everything in there, but not the Temp folder itself, every now and then, you should do this, it is what that program above mentioned does, except you don't need it when you can just do it yourself. The less things installed, the better, especially since we are limited on rom and ram memory.

With ClearTemp set one of the custom folders to Application Data/HTC/HTC Album/Cache. Running "Albums" a lot sucks up storage space.

I used CleanTemp per suggestions here & it cleaned out Storage Memory back above 100MB's (left side in the attached pic).

But I always notice that my Program Memory is much more volatile & dynamic & always seem to drop after heavy usage - closer to the 50 MB range - until use a program like cleanRam to boost it back up towards the 70MB range.

Why?

I now have 49m free.

On the device i only have Dashwire installed. When i go into remove programs though it shows all the APPS, and .cabs I have installed. Is this normal? I saved them all to the card.

Thanks for all the help!

Whatever programs that you have intalled, be it on the sd or the device memory, will show under remove programs, though stuff like hot fixes and etc usually won't show in the remove programs.

Under Application data, I hvae 1 item listed, DASHWIRE. Inside DASHWIRE I have a Cache folder, and its LOADED! Can I delete this without affecting the Dashwire service?

Cleantemp helped me tons. I had 12.33MB and for the love of me couldn't free up more. Checked a bunch of stuff in the program, let it clean, and now 33MB

It seemed to clear a bunch of junk from Resco Recycle bin. Got me, but back to free mem :D

Make sure you are typing it in the browser first. If you are, then again, make sure it's just opera:config

You should see disk cache as the 6th one down.

author display mode
css generic font family
cache
colors
developer tools
DISK CACHE

click it, and you should see 7 down from the top an empty on exit. Put a checkmark next to it, scroll to the bottom and hit save.

Hope this helps
