Help with custom tabs

I was just wondering, could you change what the tabs along the bottom link to? For example, when I press on the music tab, instead of using the htc player, could I set it up for a different player to open? Or with the weather tab, open a different weather app. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks.
