Soooo BT Tethering or what? (sprint)
Ive done my searching and to be honest I have not seen a clear thread that answers this.... But can the Sprint TP2 tether over BT? More specifically can it do PAN? DUN I think may work but I am PAN I am certain of. I am willing to try both.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Im using the MightyROM and have tried the DUN reg edit that was on XDA and I didnt see anything really change. |

bluetooth tethering is slow. Why would you want that method?

Re: Soooo BT Tethering or what? (sprint)
I have assumed that there is no BT tethering on the TP2 due to the non-standard BT stack.

BT tethering does work and is not slow and also takes less from your battery than wi-fi. Start BT networking manager and share internet connection, works for me.

I bought an Archos 5 IT w/ Android and it wouldnt recognize ad-hoc. I dont actually need BT anymore. After around 3 hours or monkeying around with it I managed to convince it to use my phones adhoc network anyway.

Re: Soooo BT Tethering or what? (sprint)
In case anyone should care, I also recently got an Archos 5 IT, and with some fiddling (mostly on the TP2) it can be set up to tether over BT DUN with the Sprint TP2.

i havent used bluetooth tethering on my tp2 but i used it alot on my mogul. i used a HP bt450 bluetooth adapter for my laptop. i also used that adapter with my hp all in one printer. it allowed me to bluetooth a pic to the printer and itd instantly print it. when i used bluetooth tethering with that adapter, it was nowhere close to slow, and only cost me 20 bucks

I've never gotten my bluetooth tethering to work on my tp2:( it wrorked great on my diamond though:) I gave up trying on my tp2.

Re: Soooo BT Tethering or what? (sprint)
Bluetooth tethering works OK for me, but the connection drops every few minutes; so I've switched to WiFi tethering (hotspot generation).

Re: Soooo BT Tethering or what? (sprint)
It works perfectly; I'm using it to post this. I can't recall exactly how I set it up, but I posted about it in one of the tethering threads a long time ago. On the phone I just go to start -> tools, internet sharing, select Bluetooth PAN, hit connect, select my netbook, and everything starts up and works.

Yes, I managed to get the TP2 to tether to an Archos 5 Internet Tablet via bluetooth -- it's not one-click easy, but seems to be pretty good so far.

can anyone elaborate on this for people running stock wm6.5 rom. I tried the link above but I don't have CMGuardian service.

Re: Soooo BT Tethering or what? (sprint)
The bluetooth internet sharing is actually quite genius. It allows you to connect your computer to the internet if maybe perhaps you didnt have a usb cable because your dog likes to chew on things hes not s'posed 2 but only wen ur not home even tho uve only been gone for like 5 mins...newayz what r the chances of that right? I found that the best method of accomplishing this feat is to......search of course....and also follow the directions in the link above very closely 1-4...then on your handset make sure it is discoverable...on your computer make sure it is discoverable, setup a new bluetooth device...then for me this lil icon pops up sayin something-modem-sumthin...ue this icon to connect and u should be gud 2 go...on my phones bluetooth settings it says sumthing bout dial up networking...its not superduper fast but i gotta say it definately gets the job done wen u need it...c if that helps any...:headbang:

FYI, if you use bluetooth instead of wifi, you should probably have a tethering plan (if your carrier requires it) as, unlike wifi sharing, the phone tells the carrier it is tethered. This is all from recollection, as I no longer use bluetooth to tether. I used to use it exclusively, but wifi is easier, faster, and cheaper (on Verizon). |
