Cannot hear the RING when on desk
 

hi,

I have this problem with this phone (Sprint version) and I can't find any threads discussing this. So I am going start one.

When the phone is laying down flat on a surface (leather couch especially), the speaker is completely muffled because of the material under it and when it rings, it is not loud enough for me to hear it.

It is the weirdest design flaw I can think of. Four small knubs on each corner would have fixed it as that would raise the phone ever so slightly so the speaker can "breathe".

Anyone else experiencing this annoyance?

On top, there are no cradles yet to stand the phone in, and the phone is not very stable when you stand it up. So weird.

I agree it's a dumb design. The speakers are obviously placed there for the turn it over to activate speaker phone thing, which I never use anyway.
I find myself placing the phone on something like a pad of post its or something similar to elevate it slightly. Huge difference.
Suprisingly, my imagio has a single speaker and has better sound volume and quality.

I use mine as an alarm, and without flipping it over, its not loud enough to do anything

I think I am going to look for some gromets that would purch this thing up like 1 mm. that ought to take care of this problem.

Makes me wonder, did the engineer ever take it and put it on his desk?

Weird.

another option, more daring, punch 2-3 small holes on the side of the back cover. That would let sound out the side the its laying flat.
