Looking like Android is OK...

...but RUNNING Android is actually somthing to get excited about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792 . I love watching this come along. I can't imagine it will be too long before the TP2 (and other WinMo devices) will run Android.

(I mean completely run it with everything working as it should - bluetooth, Wifi, radios etc.)

maybe then I will figure out what is so incredibly interesting about Android. I have not seen anyone lay out any real advantages to it(maybe I missed it). Its always nice to have options
but it really seems to be a preference thing instead of true functional advantages. Can someone list some 'real' advantages over winmo? not trying to stir a debate here but really wondering why everyone gets so hyped up about it.

BTW I have Android (semi working of course) on my tp2 but really it just seems like an iphone competitor. Simple use for the simple user

I personally dont see the hype about it,but from what i get outta people its that it just does things a bit simpler and at times nicer. One thing is for sure no ppc, smartphone, pda, android, etc will ever do more then a winmo device can.im sticking with winmo i have alot of androids around me from my close ppls but until they say can your winmo do this and i cant then i will think about getting android.

I think you've hit the appeal nail on the head: it's a simple, fast, efficient and pretty(enough) OS with some interesting/entertaining apps (the augmented reality stuff has a lot of potential).

I agree, it's very much an iPhone compeditor rather than a WinMo threat. An alternative to the iPhone for those who want a little more control over their smartphone, but who don't necessarily want the technical intricisies of a Windows Modile device. For a device primarily used as a PHONE and basic e-mail & text device... I would love Android. I really have the hots for the Verizon Aris as a take anywhere bang-around smartphone.

It's just hard to get away from the fact that WinMo (depite it's age and general perception) is a much more capable pocket COMPUTER.
