Computers rarely have a provision for more than one WiFi connection at a time, because each connection must be served by its own card. The reason this happens is because your laptop most likely only has a single wifi card.

Re: Can't connect Phone Wi-Fi (Internet Sharing) & Wi-Fi Printer on Laptop same time

You have to connect the printer to the phone's network. I am guessing your computer is connected to the phone and your printer WAS connected to the laptop but when you switch the network, your printer is not in the "new" network.

Bring it in by selecting the phone's wifi network on the printer settings and you are set.

PS: Another option is sharing. The above user is correct. So you must connect a usb cable from phone to laptop and then setup ICS on the laptop for the printer to pick.

too much hassle I would think.

I also tried usb cable from phone to laptop (ICS) and WiFI on Printer, and now ICS doesn't work.. Printer works.. When I disconnect Printer (WiFi), immeditally ICS (via USB) cable works..

Re: Can't connect Phone Wi-Fi (Internet Sharing) & Wi-Fi Printer on Laptop same time

ok
try this

on your phone, turn on wifi sharing. Lets say the SSID for this network is NIGEL.

Now go to the laptop and connect to the phone's network, NIGEL. You should be able to access internet now.

NOW, go to the printer, and on its LCD screen, get to settings and then network settings. Look for wifi networks available, and select the name of the network that your PHONE is putting out i.e. NIGEL.

One your printer connects, now your laptop and printer are in the same network. You may still have trouble finding the printer from the laptop, so reboot the laptop. THe IP address of the printer would help but you would have to find that from your phone.

Hope that helps.

ONe q: Why?

If you want to do this, I would think it would be more complicated. If you have XP, then it;s a royal pain, Vista is a bit more simpler. ICS is being set on the Laptop and not the phone, correct?

You also have to bridge the connections under Network connections. I would say try searching for an article on google for ICS under vista. Its quite easy to setup and may be your best option.

PS: If you are simply trying to print something when you are browsing, then the easiest way is,

leave everything the way it is before you have the problem. printer and laptop connect and laptop and phone connect but not all.

Connect laptop and phone (printer out). print all you want to the printer. Obviously it wont print but it will queue up in your laptop. Now when you disconnect this network and go back to the original one (laptop and printer), you can go to print queue under and hit restart, and it should print.
