tp2 charging problem

is it just me or?
curently running energy rom 23518
my problem is charging with ac/dc charger
tryed blackberry too same no charge
But same chargers charge when phone is off

when charging on pc usb no problems
when charging on car charger everything ok too

Any ideas, anybody with similar problems ????

Re: tp2 charging problem

never had it w/ any juicys roms

do you install any battery percent cabs? that could be the source. does it happen directly after a new flash or hard reset? if it does (1st its not rom related @ all) but if it happens after flash or hard reset (no cabs installed) its either your charger or phone. if it doesnt happen right away...its sumthing you installed.

Re: tp2 charging problem

it is allways after fresh rom flash

Re: tp2 charging problem

then i would try flash stock to see if it still happens...if it does, then its the phone or charger. if it doesnt, im lost as to what it could be

Re: tp2 charging problem

just flashed to telus stock and still no charging on wall charger

Re: tp2 charging problem

if you have a telus store you could go to (i dunno how telus works, sorry) you should/need to relock your phone...then take it into the store...have them check if it will charge on 1 of there chargers, if it doesnt work for them either then that means you have defective phone. but if it works for them then you have a defected charger. thats the only way to know for sure...unless you have or dont mind just buying a new charger to see if that will work then if it still doesnt charge on the new charger then you will know for sure its the phone thats defective.

thats bout all you can do. do you have insurance on it? if so... call it in and get a replacement. but i would still relock your phone (oh yea, thats if you ever did use the unlocker; if you didnt dont worry bout the relock) thats pretty much all you can do

gud luck

Re: tp2 charging problem

ok i was right, i re read your 1st post agian. you did unlock your phone so b4 you go to a store or mail it in 4 insurance, you need or its best if you relock your phone. just so they can not say it was your fault and try to charge you full price

knnrsk 02-06-2010 10:24 PM

Re: tp2 charging problem

tried new htc wall charger with stockk rom today still same
next step to do is to relock and put stock rom back
will post if there is any luck

kjhadfield 02-06-2010 10:28 PM

Re: tp2 charging problem

no, i doubt the relocker will change the fact it doesnt charge. i was saying to relock it b4 you go to the telus store or b4 you send it in 4 insurance...if you have it. so that way they wouldnt know you unlocked it/hacked your phone (they would blame you 4 the problem)

you are going to have to get a new/refurb phone...theres no way around it

knnrsk 02-06-2010 10:30 PM

Re: tp2 charging problem

thx
any link to how to relock

kjhadfield 02-06-2010 10:39 PM

Re: tp2 charging problem

its a sticky in the rom section

knnrsk 02-06-2010 11:29 PM

Re: tp2 charging problem

hmmm not sure that this relocking worked
downloaded relocker to my pc
synked with phone
run exe
couple files shortly appeared in same folder where exe is and than dissapeared
no idea if relock was done , or i did something wrong
is there way to check phone if locked or not

Re: tp2 charging problem

put in bootloader an instead of it saying oliNex or sumthing like that it will say sumthing else, i thought there were sum pics of what it looks like unlocked vs locked in 1 of those sticky threads

I too had this happen to me. I Flashed Mightys War Rom then back to his
standard MightyRom. I tried Flashing back to Stock,Hard resets and searching the Boards for answers with no luck. I called Sprint tech who was no help and ended up just doing a Warranty exchange.
Sorry I could'nt help with answers but just wanted to let you know your not alone.

My wife's Sprint TP2 has been doing this also. Stock rom. Very wierd sometimes it will not charge when being plugged into the charger all night and sometimes it will.

ive had the same issue.I've had to replace mine already because it would only like trickle charge when off.seems like my replacement is going the same route.my previous phone ppc6700 took all sorts ofabuse for four years...never needed a replacement.ive been babying my tp2 which makes it even worse

I am having a similar charging issue. Everything is stock except the few changes below.

Well, you are not the only one having this problem. Mine is brand new. I started setting it up last night and had it hooked to the computer via usb. I installed a few .cabs such as google maps, myphone, and a few tweaks such as tether, disable sent notification, enable all camera modes, and manila start menu unlocker. While it was connected it said it was charging. When I went to bed I turned it off and connected it to another usb cable on another computer which is an a/c hub. I went to turn it on this morning and thought it was strange it was not fully charged. I continued to set it up a bit and take it for a spin. After a while I turned it off again and hooked it to the usb a/c charger again. I just tried turning it on and nothing was happening. I connected it to the usb again and it finally turned on, but I checked the battery level and it was at 0% and turned off. I have it connected to the a/c charger and giving it a little bit to see what will happen. One thing that seems strange is that the battery discharged more while it was off and attached to the usb a/c hub during the afternoon causing it to refuse to turn on at all. Any thoughts?

I have same issue that started happening a week ago. It seems I cannot replace it as Asurion is out of this phone and is no longer being reproduced! Very frusterating but Imagio and Omnia 2 are only alternatives and will try them both although I doubt they will be as great as the TP2.

Re: tp2 charging problem

I tried a different charging "block" with a different cable and it seems to charge ok now. I think that is a variable that should be tested. THis would be the 2nd block that became faulty in the last year. Just though Id share more insight.

It sounds to me like these issues seem to be caused by defective batteries or overheating. If you have a Sprint device take it to a store and ask if they will swap batterys wth you and try it. They should do it for free.

Re: tp2 charging problem

Issue of Charger showing as USB connection & not charging is a internal fault (Resistor & Capacitors). Battery won’t charge more than 2%.

If you have already hard reset/clear storage and your issue persists then you definitely have some sort of hardware problem. It could also be that the usb port on your device is damaged, dirty, or defective.

Re: tp2 charging problem

I had a similar problem, but it isnt that bad
I have a wall charger from an old moto razor, they have the same connection.
It used to charge my phone fine befor I started hacking unlocking flashing and all that.
Out of nowhere a few weeks ago (around the time I started playing with android ports) the wall charger stopped charging my phone. It will pretend to charge and then tell me the current isnt strong enough to charge the phone.

But its no big deal cause I have a usb wall converter. You might have a similar thing going there....
Im sure you can get a wall converter for a usb at walmart or best buy or whatever. Most new phones come with that standardly now, my brothers samsung android that he got a few months ago did.
(I took his converter lol, my prior phone was a samsung with the same charge port so I gave him my cable)
Ive yet to run into anyoter problems with charging from the "wall" now

BUT whenever running any energy rom, my phone will not charge from a computer or any other usb port (xbox or car or such) that doesnt have a usb 2.0 port.
I get a current issue like above. That and when running energy the cable is EXTREEMLY touchy. if the cable so much as wiggles the phone thinks it got unplugged and reconnected.
Any other rom, its fine.
