Compress System Images
Is it possible, and if so, worth it, to compress the images in the Windows folder?
There is nearly 50 Mb of just BMP's in the windows folder, not to mention other image formats, and it seems Lossless compression can achieve >80% compression. Could this compression be used to free up rescources? Sorry if this has already been covered, I didn't find anything in a quick search and I figured that if we can compress exe's the same might apply to images. Thanks. |
Re: Compress System Images
I know the Phone canvas bmps can be saved as pngs then renamed back to bmp and they work fine. I havent tried any of the other ones yet

Re: Compress System Images
Well, thinking about it I believe that this is what ChainFire Compression does (CFC).
I was thinking that CFC compressed some special Manila images, and that these were sys images, but it only makes sense that the images Manila uses would be in the same folder as the manila files. Anyways, I'm guessing this is a well covered topic as there is no replies. |
