Data Connection timer ?
 

When I use the stylus to tap the connection strength icon, I get a popup box that tells me "Sprint (Dial-up)" But there is a running timer that is live & counting there too.

I installed misfortune's taskbar for this icon but it show solid data connection arrows. Which I assume is my data connection is on & said counter is counting right?

If so, I installed the strra 60 sec disconnect cab to eliminate the data connect after 1 minute of idle.

Is this not working as intended?

I only have Hotmail Live as my email checking as mail arrives.
