Text messages re-sends automatically
 
I been having problems with my sprint TP2. Since the start of the new year my text message every couple of days will re-send a prior message that i sent to a person. Its starting to get annoying because everyone is texting me back like I am crazy because I sent them that text alredy. Any possible soloutions? Anyone else experinced this.

I had a colleague in my office have this happen before with the older Touch Pro. You probably sent the message in an area you didn't have much reception. The text is kind of "spinning" in text land.

We had him do a hard reset and it fixed the issue.

Does anyone know of another solotioun besides hard reset. I really dont feel like loading all these programs again.

empty the drafts folder, if it is a text that had trouble sending it will resend automatically after a soft reset. at least thats what my phone does. so if a text fails to send i click the red link to resend it & then head over to drafts folder & clear it from there

sometimes with my old tp it would send every text several times in a row but only happened with custom romz and was fixed with hardreset

Thank you. I think that did the trick. It always resends after a soft reset. Thanks for the fix. Dont know why it does this all of a sudden.

Does anyone know how to clear an unread text message. Is marking on my inbox and I don't have anything on my outbox or drafts. Any ideas any one??

I have this problem a lot. Especially when I do a soft reset, or come in and out of service. ANNOYING.

Move the attached folder to your phone, then run the file inside the folder and soft reset. It will clear the phantom unread message

At one point after flashing and restoring my old texts, I had this issue where it sent every half typed draft I hadn't deleted. It was late at night on a work night too. Luckily I have understanding friends. :)

This is really starting to get annoying i have done everything and it doesnt stop. Does anyone know how to to stop your text messages from being re-sent when your phone powers on and off.

i had this problem with my mogul and tp1. i was looking around the registry a few days ago and there is a entry somewhere about retry on reboot or some like that. rite now im off to try and get rid of my 2 phantom texts tho... i will post back and let u guys kno if i find that reg entry.

EDIT: it was either a reg entry or a startup service that definitely has something to do with retrying to send messages at startup. i think i recall seeing this while using memaid

Ok Thanks that explains it does anyone have a cab file or something that can fix this. I sometimes turn my phone off and on in the middle of the night and my phone will randomly text someone at 3am!

ok there is definately a startup service named smsretry. i am using memmaid and it wont let me do anything besides delete it. i will have read up more on this before i am willing to do this. smsretry does seem to be the culprit but i am not sure if i delete it, will this mess with the entire sms retry option.

Ok well we are making progress Maybee someone can jump in on this thread and help us out. This problem is truley annoying.

yes that works for the phantom text but We need something to fix the automatic resend on start up.

So the only solotion is to clean out your drafts. I havent had any takers on this subject. This problem really sucks!

Relating to this topic:
My texts get sent into the draft folder when it is going out @ the same time an incoming text gets received.

However, the annoying thing is I can't send it out from the draft folder.
I have to send it as a forwarded txt from there.

Now if I decide to just type up a new text & not use the draft text, the draft one left over will be sent out automatically.

Tres annoying.

back on my mogul, i remember my friend telling me he kept recieving the same text months after i deleted all of my texts, emails, etc so i dont think it resends just messages in the drafts folder.

well, i found a way to disable the smsretry service. i just set it to manual and i will see if this solves the issue... i hope it doesnt comepletely disable smsretry... i guess ill give it a day or two and see how it goes.

Anybody ever find a fix for this? This is really pissing me off. It's really aggravating my friends.
