What problems have you had with Touch Pro 2?

So the touch pro 2 has been out for awhile now on all major carriers. What kind of problems, if any, are you guys experiencing? Not things you don't like, but things that have gone wrong with your phone? How many replacements have you had? That kind of thing.

Re: What problems have you had with Touch Pro 2?

I'll start off with my problems. I got my VZW TP2 the day it was released (Mid October). My first phone had a faulty mic, it was replaced. Refurbished phone I received had the oil/moisture issue with the screen. This phone got replaced with yet another. I'm on my third TP2 now in 3 months.

I hate the most the stain or worn pattern on my touch pro 2.. It can be fixed by dying the cover black or something.. I was gonna do it today but It's below zero outside in Minnesota at the moment..

Oh and my housing started to develop some Hairline cracks..

All comestic things though.. besides that the phone works great..

I saw your post earlier. How long have you had your phone before those started to show up?

On my first. Got it the first day they were availible.

Problem: every once in a while (once every couple weeks, maybe) it fails to wake up when the screen shuts off.

Annoying, but I still really love this device.

The only real problems I've had have been a crack in the screen housing, stuck/lit pixels, occasional failure to wake, and lots of problems with the sound DLL. That thing is more fragile than wet toilet paper, I've had completely random programs break my sound, programs that have nothing to do with sound even.

had mine since mid november... have the oil spot going on right now... already set up to get another one as sometimes the screen doesn't respond to multiple touches and i have nothing running and lots of memory free...

Re: What problems have you had with Touch Pro 2?

It seems like a couple of you guys have had the oil spot on the screen issue, as I have had. Hopefully HTC learns to fix this in upcoming devices, maybe switching to capacitive screens that do not have this problem

Re: What problems have you had with Touch Pro 2?

I've had mine since about early December. I've experienced a few times where it's failed to wake. The most annoying problem I have right now is trying to type anything in the address bar in IE. I have no idea what the problem is, but it LAGS so bad. It takes a little less than about 2-3 minutes for a full address to come up if it's short. If it the address is long, it takes longer.
I also hate that my GPS sometimes doesn't work the first time when I try to get a route. I'm not sure if it's the phone or what, but it's annoying. And it's usually always when I HAVE to be somewhere.

I would try a hard reset! This should not happen to you. You might also want to try a custom rom like mighty mikes. It makes a world of a difference in terms of performance

it can also be fixed by putting you're phone in rice, dehydrator, or using duct tape..

Search for all those methods..

Re: What problems have you had with Touch Pro 2?

I just got a refurbished TP2 in response to my TP being a pain in the ass. Had it for three days so far, and I have issues while typing in names to send texts. The letters keep going, say I wanted to text "Erika" I start with "Er" but the first thing it pulls up is Earl at ER and then when you hit ok, the letters ER stay and then it says Earl and has his number.

Also, I've had problems with texts that get lost to the nether, even though I clearly hit send, yet they never go through and aren't in my sent items. I've also had the phone turn itself off three times today after 'sending' a text message. I turn the phone back on to no text sent. What's the worst part is I don't usually know the phone has gone off until twenty minutes later thinking "Why haven't I gotten a response?"

This phone was hard reset the day I got it and I have only installed a few cabs on it. Does anyone know if you get a different model as a replacement for an old one (even if refurbished) if the warranty is extended or am I sol?

Yes those are the same issue. I've had this refurbished phone since early December and it just got the rainbow banding/oil screen issue the other day. Took it to VZW and they sent me a replacement (another refurb:angry7:). It should be covered for up to a one year warranty I believe

Wow you should definitely take that in. I'm almost positive you would get a refurbished model. If you have insurance and want to make a claim, then I believe you can get a new one, but you might be charged a premium

Re: What problems have you had with Touch Pro 2?

The problems I’ve been having is sometimes the phone just runs real slow, many times almost once a day I have to do a soft reset because something will screw up, if you install or uninstall 1 program that WM doesn’t like, it can mess up the whole phone to the point of doing a hard reset (this happened to me this week trying to uninstall Bing beta, I literally had to redownload the stock Sprint Rom and install radio Rom all over again to finally get it working right).

Another thing is the apps sucks, its like they are all from the 90’s. Take for instance Facebook app, it sucks big time, it doesn’t update automatically and you can’t read the replies. Another issue if you use the headphones too long and the phone gets hot, the phone speaker won’t work later unless you take out the battery for a minute. Another thing that’s getting on my nerves, is that you constantly have to install patches to make the phone behave right (like the sms sent notification fix), same goes for Pandora and other progs. I mean its 2010, we shouldn’t be having these issues in this day and age.

Anyways, this is my final week with this phone, I’ve grown tired of constant rom changes and the issues associated with WM.

I agree with everything you've said.

I saw your post about the Nexus One. Looks like a nice phone

Yeah, I told myself I was gonna try that after the last time I backed my phone up, but I hadn't installed the 2016 SMS fix yet. I'm definitely going to do one though because it's a real PITA!!

Rice? How does that work, are you beinng serious? I tried the duct tape today...it works for 5 seconds and i can literally sit and watch the "rainbow" come right back. :( this sucks

The failure-to-wake occurs fairly often for me. Is it really a hardware problem that an exchange might solve? I've been assuming that the problem is in the firmware, because it goes away (temporarily) by jiggling Auto Adjust Backlight.

Do you run a custom ROM with a lot of programs running in the background? Sometimes this is the issue for me. I made sure to always close out opera and other programs and I was fine

Hi, first i like to say love this site and thanks to everyone who post. Ok here's my issue lets say I go to check my voicemail, at the home page I select phone dial my number whatever. Then I listen for the "enter for the password" i pull the phone from ear and its back at the home page i got to select phone again then keypad to enter my password. I think it should stay at the phone page. Maybe its just me.

You can go to settings - perspnal - phone and enter a p for pause after the *86 then put in your password and the pound key for it to do it automatically, it should look like *86p0000#

The reason your phone doesn't respond to multiple touches is that it is not a capacitive screen. Until that comes out one touch sense is all there is so to speak.
