Help using Sprint TP2 with T-mobile
 

I switched carriers from Sprint to T-Mobile. Sprint gave me the MSL since I purchased the Sprint TP2 for full retail price.

I ported my number from Sprint to T-mobile and put my new T-mobile GSM card in.

It won't work, and T-mobile Tech support nor Sprint Tech support know what to do, so I am turning to you guys for instructions.

I provided T-mobile with the MSL # that sprint gave me, but they say they don't know what to do.

Do I need to just unlock the phone and if so how with the MSL?
Do I press ## numbers?

Do I have to flash my phone? But this is supposed to be a world phone.

I don't realy want a new rom, I just need my phone to work with t-mobile.

Please Advise

you need to get your sim unlock code
and inorder to use a us carrier you need to have a special radio flashed the only way to do this is to go to the upgrade section and purchase the security and sim unlocker.

Its a world phone....for outside the US. It wont register US networks. You need to get your SIM unlocked. Theres a thread with directions in the upgrades section. Youll have to purchase the unlocker for $25

Also If I flash my phone can I or do I want to use the T-mobile Rom or any other Rom that will work for T-mobile?

And if I flash will I still need to get the sim & security unlocker?

no sprint wont

you can use any ROM you want, youll need a Tmobile radio though

yes, flashing only unlocks software, not the radio

Thx the reply... Is there a specific thread with step by step instructions to go from sprint to t-mobile?

And If i just do the sim & security unlocker will that be all I need to do, or will I still need a tmobile radio?

incorrect, a tmobile radio would brich a spring device

What he needs to do is purchase the unlocker in the CDMA upgrade section, and run it. then he will be spl, sim and security unlocked. then he needs to flash to the latest Unlocked radio for us networks. after that he can choose andy custom rom in the CDMA section, this means no tmobile rom and no tmobile radio. the tmobile rom will not boot and the radio will smoke your phone.


any of the custom roms in the cdma section will work on the tmobile network.

Thanks this is helpfull. I am about to purchase the unlocker. Any links to threads with best latest unlocked radio?

I am going to just keep the Rom that came with phone.

Here is the skinny i had a touch pro 2, still have it. I switched to the EVO and i am loving it.. My girl has the sprint/nextel 8350i witch i ported over to boost. The blackberry suks its always messing up and not working properly. I am skimming trough what would be the bast way to get the TP2 on a prepaid plan for her..

I thought about porting it to Boost CDMA, however I don't have a CDMA Boost phone to do it with nor the time to track down everything I need to do it.

AT&T have prepaid they r expensive and don't include any internet access. T-Mobile has some better plans that r comparable to what Boost would do for the phone - the unlimited minutes.

What would the easiest rout be... pay for the sim unlock and go with T-Mobile or go Boost and do the CDMA switch after activating a CDMA Boost phone... I WILL NOT CLONE an ESN... I hear u just have to call and say my phone broke and keep calling back with the ESN of the tp2 till a Boost customer service rep activates it for you...
