Leave Sim card in or out?
Just bought a Verizon TP2 that has a Vodofone sim card. I don't ever leave the country, but I do plan on flashing the phone to a custom rom.
Should I take the card out and leave it out? Will this make a difference on the rom type (cdma, gsm) that I'll need ? I know Verizon is cdma, so why keep the sim card in? Thanks |
Re: Leave Sim card in or out?
u need to keep the sim card for any flashing!!! so i suggest keep it on

Problem is then you get this stupid icon for the sim card being out in the taskbar so I would just leave it in. The newer roms I have been using don't give me that message anymore anyway so I don't even notice anymore. |
Re: Leave Sim card in or out?

You can backup your contacts to the sim card which is nice I think.

Thanks guys - I'm leaving it for now - unless it starts causing a problem. I've flashed several roms with & without - with no noticeable problems or issues with it installed.

Re: Leave Sim card in or out?
I leave it in, it just feels better. I mean uhhh, yeah. I have a Tmobile SIM, and granted the phone wont use it(Im too cheap to unlock it) its still nice to be able to see my Tmo contacts

Leave it in so that you won't have to place it elsewhere and risk losing it. Also, it keeps the dust off that area.

Re: Leave Sim card in or out?
But has anyone done any checking on what the "global mode" does? I am wondering if there is some benefit to not running in global mode... such as battery or something. Any thoughts?

Re: Leave Sim card in or out?
I used to leave it in, but I took it out recently to play with the Android builds. It seems to prevent the CDMA radio from working properly on the current Android builds. Hopefully that will change as the effort progresses.
