Cdma touch pro 2 digitizer (screen)
HELP!!!
I just got a new touch pro 2 over the weekend. The sprint store gave me a new upgrade from the TP since I was having issues. When they gave me the TP2, i didn't get the accessories. Handed me the phone and I walked out the store. Anyway, while in my back pocket (since I have no case for it) it fell out the side pocket, landed face down on the ceramic floor, and the digitizer cracked!! It doesn't affect anything else, the screen still works, no LCD damage, but i can NOT find the digitizer for the CDMA version of this phone. All the GSM models have this hold in the upper right hand corner. ](*,) Anyone know where I can either buy one, or who i can send it to, to get it fixed?? Thanks!! |

Re: Cdma touch pro 2 digitizer (screen)
so a replacement digitizer has to be the exact one made for your model? not able to use a non branded digitizer instead of the oem?

Re: Cdma touch pro 2 digitizer (screen)
i already removed the screen, it's not that big of a deal... it's a $50 difference...
the thing that i'm looking for now is if they sell the digitizer with the entire front housting place, because mine is pretty scratched up and messed up... |
Re: Cdma touch pro 2 digitizer (screen)
alfredo-x,
Can you post the instruction ? I am thinking to buy this digitizer at ebay but worry that I cannot take out the LCD part that glued. Any advice would be appreciated. Is this the same digitizer that you buy at ebay ? |

Re: Cdma touch pro 2 digitizer (screen)
DON'T do it -- don't buy a "replacement digitizer", OEM or not. It's impossible to fix. We're talking machine-pressed contacts and a glued digitizer. I'm trying to save you some frustration and money.
I've posted my experience in fixing these things elsewhere on the site -- PM me for more information, but don't waste your cash. :( -T |

I'll repost here for your reference (save you the search):
Re: HTC Touch Pro 2 Digitizer Replacment Hi krazy5hadow - I have some bad news unfortunately.... I hate having to tell you this, but I'd like to spare you a nasty surprise. I broke my digitizer as well, and sent off for a replacement. The replacement came; I could tell it was OEM part and I was excited to fix it. Unfortunately when taking apart the TP2, I found that the original digitizer is GLUED to the display with some kind of impossible-to-detach resin. When trying as carefully as I could do detach it, I cracked the original digitizer worse. There's also a machine-pressed ribbon cable that connects the digitizer to the phone (you'll probably see this little ribbon on the eBay picture of the digitizer). But this is done at the factory with special machinery -- so even if you could get the glue detached without cracking both the display and the digitizer, it's impossible to attach the ribbon in such a way that the connection is made. I did some phone repair for awhile (Titans and etc.) and they were relatively easy to repair. However, the TP2s are glued instead of screwed. They do this to minimize dust / debris getting between the panes, but unfortunately this also makes them impossible to repair. Those digitizers on eBay go for cheap... but it's because they can't be used. It's a rip off - don't send for one. Sorry about this... it's impossible to replace. Let me know if you want more info (post here). I would suggest trying to find a TP2 for parts (with an OK LCD + digitizer + all mainboard ribbons intact). That would probably be your best bet from here, although they can be hard to find. Sorry again, but hope this helps. -Trevor |

Re: Cdma touch pro 2 digitizer (screen)
Count me in as one of those who tried fixing the digitizer myself
I bought a digitizer and when trying to remove the factory one I broke the LCD- reports showed that everyone broke their screens too- figures I bought a screen for about $40 Those ribbon cables are impossible to fix manually They are definitely machine fitted or maybe I just dont have the right tools well you never know |
