Ram Sweep or HTCAddicts CleanRam

Which one do you use?

I have never found either one to be necessary in the TP2

both work well but what i realized with both of them is that sometimes with manilla 2.5 both of those will try to close sense ui to get extra ram and the phone will freeze. to be honest i'de recommend sktools, its the best program for that, pm me for more info (sktools isn't free). I wouldn't listen to jmorton because the tp2 has basically the same amount of ram as the tp1 and many people on the tp1 and tp2 forum have found them useful.

Re: Ram Sweep or HTCAddicts CleanRam

Maybe the guru's can correct me if I'm wrong, but I used CleanRam doing the highest level 3 deep cleaning. Did it work, YES it did. I reduced my usage from 6x% down to sometimes 5x%.

With that being said, nothing to me is as useful as a soft reset. I boot at 42%, and thats the way my phone stays, between 42-45% during the majority of the day and at night. I only really use it when I'm travelling and then soft reset right after to clear the memory, because no program will get it back to that freshly booted state.

I use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller 1.3.2, and have my 'back' button mapped as soft reset on a long press (it's the button I use least). I much prefer a button to soft reset rather than navigating and opening up a program; because thats when you make a mistake when you're in a rush and drop your phone. So to me, a soft reset via RKC is the perfect solution to me. Just my $.02.

Re: Ram Sweep or HTCAddicts CleanRam

Haven't been able to get either to work on MightyROM IMPACT...both lock up. But, FWIW, CleanRAM has more options...

As for the "not necessary" post...well, what else am I supposed to do (other than soft reset) when my phone is using 80% RAM with no apps running? I clearly need something.

I think they are very similar and either one will work. I use cleanram when i notice a lag. Its not necessary to do it everyday, i do it after a flash or once a month

HTCAddicts CleanRAM is what I use.

I've used both over time and have found that I prefer HTCAddicts CleanRAM as it seems to perform better in providing memory recovery. I would suggest that you try both and see what conclusions you come to.

That's why a soft rest is really the best option.

CleanRam on level two takes almost as much time as a soft rest anyway.

Re: Ram Sweep or HTCAddicts CleanRam

I know the simplest and quickest answer is to soft reset, however since sense 2.5 has twitter tab, as well as other ram intensive apps (My HTC Peep settings download 180 tweets every 15 minutes/plus I run MM 2.81) I often have to wait for an entire minute or two after a Soft Reset for everything to load on my TP2 properly. Otherwise the device will lock up if I begin using it as normal immediately following a soft reset which would only cause me to soft or hard reset again, depending on how locked up the phone gets.

To avoid the soft reset and the possible 1 or 2 minute wait for everything I’m running to update and load, I just simply go to
Settings>Today>Items>windows Default>OK
and I run Clean Ram on level 3 then I go right back to
Settings>Today>Items>HTC Sense>OK
At that point I have recovered a decent amount of ram.
(Today for example it went from 82% back to 66%)

This might seem strange but I avoid locking up sense 2.5, having to soft reset, and waiting for all of sense 2.5 apps along with any other thing you’re running to load.

This is simply what works for me until Clean RAM works on 2.5 without locking up.

Note: I’m running Juicy R8

Wow this is faster then a reset? Thanks for the info I will try your method I am sure there will be times that it is the better option but ususally I just reset and switch tasks until PPC is ready to go......................still hate it!

That makes total sense & if my 2.5 ROM (NRG 21885 Dusk)took that long to load I would use CleanRam also. I do use the Tweeter Tab (I would be lost without it now that I'm used to it) but I don't load anywhere near as many tweets as you do so mine loads fairly quickly.

Re: Ram Sweep or HTCAddicts CleanRam

Yes I absolutely love the HTC peep and I find that with the setting set that way it keeps me from missing certain tweets that I would have normally looked over. Additionally since HD Walls still does not work on 1922 Roms I like using the Max Manila to give me the full wallpaper look skinned over the taskbars. I will probably flash NRG Rom this weekend. But I like Juicy’s Work and like to help the Juicy rom boards.
Until all these new builds are compatible with the apps we like and typically use I will use my strange work- arounds, lol hope this helps someone.

For those using cleanRAM (level 3) and getting sense 2.5 lock up problems, try the following:

run cleanRAM configuration menu
select menu
select exceptions list
check enabled box
select manila.exe then right arrow to add it to the exceptions list
close and clean now...
