6.1 start menu
I know I've seen this before, but I can't find it with any search (probably searching the wrong terms). What's the name of the cab that brings back the 6.1 drop down start menu?

Re: 6.1 start menu
your probably looking for Quick Menu http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...menu-v2-7.html
You can also try Awesome Start Menu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587631 . Its a pretty nice program |

It adds a TF tab for programs (although it is call favs or something like that IIRC) It also brings back the cascading 6.1 start menu. It works super. I am running manila 2..5 now so I'm not using it, but it worked super when I had the stock ROM running. Here is "awesome start menu" which is what I use now: http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...creen01-54.png ~John |
Re: 6.1 start menu
Along these lines, I generally like TF3D on my WM6.1 Stock ROM. My main dissatisfaction is the fact that the Start Menu shows only 30 Items, and then I have to go to "All" and scroll through everything to find the one I want.
What I would like is the ability to add a "Folder" rather than an "App" to the Start Menu, that would allow me to categorize my Apps and make them dramatically more accessible. Selecting one of these Folders would then bring up a listing of just those apps that I have put there. Having these in the similar 10x3 arrangement of the initial Start Menu in TF3D would be ideal, but a simple listing would work also. Is there a way to accomplish this without too much difficulty? I know Mobile Shell and other launchers will replace the entire interface, but I would prefer to keep what I have in the default TF3D, but just tweak it a little to be more functional. Thanks. |

Then go to Windows/Start menu/Programs. Once you're in there, right click & create a new folder & name it whatever you want (you can see the one I created called "applications", I have all my most used everyday apps listed in there so I can get to them in one click with no scrolling)) Then drag/copy whatever existing shortcuts from outside the folder into it. After that, I usually delete the original shortcut. ~John |
Re: 6.1 start menu
Quick question, maybe someone can help me out...
If I have customized icons for my slider, will the programs tab not match? And if so, is there a way to fix this? I really enjoy the drop down menu |

Re: 6.1 start menu
I've got Tesalat iphone rhodium icon set, I don't want to add this killer menu though if it doesn't match.
Anyone know if this icon set would work?? or could I change the icon somehow??? |
Re: 6.1 start menu
Just try it & see if it works, you can always remove it if you don't like it.
Back up your system first with something like SPB backup, then you can always restore it no matter what happens. ~John |

Thanks. I can see how this would work just fine with the traditional Start Menu outside of TF3D, but I'm not sure this would work within TF3D. When I check my phone now, I see a folder for Office Mobile inside \windows\Start Menu\Programs, but it doesn't show up within TF3D. If I attempt to insert a new item into the 30-icon TF3D Start Menu area, that folder doesn't show up either. So I'd have to assume that other folders I create within that directory would not show up either. So, is there a way of getting this behavior within TF3D? |

Under the rearrangement of tabs I could just uncheck the box no? |

With WM6.1, as far as I can see, the Folders in Windows\Start Menu\Programs do not show up within TF3D. |

Re: 6.1 start menu
Bump again:
Does anybody know how/if it is possible to add "Folders" to the stock TF3D Start Menu, so that I can better organize my Apps and provide quicker and more efficient access to apps beyond the 3x10 that the TF3D provides, without having to go through all of them in 'All Applications'?? |

I know there are apps like Mobile Shell that seem to provide a much better interface in some respects, but I also read of various problems, incompatibilities, etc. Is there any better Program Launcher that can be used within TF3D without completely revamping the User Interface? The "regular" TF3D Start Menu isn't that bad, but it could definitely be improved and made more flexible and versatile. |

The thing is, this does already happen. As someone mentioned above, the Sprint Touch Pro2's stock behavior is to launch the HTC program launcher whenever the Start button/menu is activated. In the launcher, "Office Mobile" is one of the default programs, and clicking it actually launches another window which lists out the individual programs: Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, etc. So the folder concept is supported. So yeah, I'd love to know if someone has figured out some way to support the same kind of folder behavior for user-created folders. Or even just for the "Games" folder! |

Re: 6.1 start menu
since this thread is regarding the start menu for 6.1, i was wondering if any of you guys know of a way to change the font colors (menu and on screen-no using tf3d at the moment). i've searched the forums and the closest answer i found was changing your tf3d fonts (from the xda website). there are a couple of wallpapers i'd like to use but don't because because since the font color is white, it's a little hard to read unless the background wallpaper is pre-dominantly dark in color. any help pointing to the right direction is much appreciated.
edit: running on stock ROM btw. |
