??? Garmin XT ???

A lot of people talk about garmin xt and how good it is. Does everyone pay $100 for it or there a free version?

The downside to Garmin XT is it comes on a 2GB card (at least mine came that way)and technically, your not supposed to copy it over to a larger card. Of course, I couldn't deal with it that way so I had to "make" it work from my 8GB card.

I use it works great. Ive used it for a few devices in a row now. Heres a post from back in the day. Most of the info is still good. P.S. There are new maps around.. (Garmin City Navigator North America (2010).

I recently bought it off of ebay for 35 bucks. i like it accept you are forced to type in the data rather than having an option to paste it in like you can with the gmaps app.

i think tom tom will give you one free map. i might try that to see if i like the application better.

what about topo maps, I hike alot and would love using my makeshift 5v lantern battery charger and my TP2 as a GPS.

I have a legal copy for a BT device - for which I paid over $200.

I'd never pay $100 for a copy on a locked 2GB SD card. Worthless...

I've heard from a friend of a cousin of my sister's BFF that there are ways around that limitation. I, myself, wouldn't know.

Have you heard about this new thing called "Google"?

There is a way to move it to a larger card. A serial that garmin uses to authenticate the program involves a serial matching the cards ID number.
