I just did Primenall's suggestion and it works, and it isn't that hard although I hate resetting the phone.
Before my fastest speed was ~90kbs, now it is ~700 kbs.

You can also do this using # codes, but it does not force evdo, just rejects calls and messges. You will still be in 1x.

I suggested that since from what I got from the orginal question was that he wanted to force EVDO so that he wouldnt be bothered with calls and messages. not necessarily that it was stuck in 1x.

Or are you saying that even with that it will drop to 1x even when receiving a call/message even though it is "blocked"

I am not sure if it will bump back to 1x if you make a call, but I am pretty sure it won't if someone is calling you.

The thing I liked on the TP1 is that even when forcing evdo (evdo only setting) it would allow me to call out on 1x, but did not allow incoming calls.

This fix works, but I would be someone's best friend if they created a fix that replicated what the "evdo only" mode of the TP1.

Its not exactly like the old touch pro way, but for now I ripped apart my registry to find a work around without rebooting. Hope this helps. Its in my post in the XDA forums http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...29#post6661529

Wow man. AWESOME find. I can't believe this hasn't bother anyone else enough to figure out. Unfortunately I know **** about registry values so I wasn't going to start poking around. Thankfully you do! Now if I can only get zipwhip to actually receive my messages everything will be golden.
