Google Maps Mobile vs. Bing for Mobile

I've recently had a chance to try Bing for Mobile.
It was overall pretty neat, and I thought it would be nice if Google Maps Mobile had some of its features - life movie times, gas prices, voice-activated search.

Are these features also available from Google Maps Mobile too?
Google usually offers just about anything that I thought would be nice, so I would be a little surprised if Google Maps for Mobile didn't have these features that Bing for Mobile does.
My preference is to run just one app - Google Maps for Mobile - for movie times, gas prices, etc.

Windows Live Search > Bing

I prefer the graphics in Google Maps over Bing. I do use the Windows Live search option on occasion. Going a bit further, the older Google Map releases allowed on to create a favorite by tapping/holding the screen. The newest release of GM does allow the creating of a favorite, but it defaults to the address, not the specific location. As an instance, big parking lot - with the older release you could pin-point where you are parked; the newer one, that ability is not there. Same with Bing - no saving your vehicle's location.

the old bing is the only final release version. The new bing is not final and is still missing features like notification when you reach a turn or rerouting you.

the old bing is better then google maps. In google maps when you get to your turn no notification sound and also if you miss your turn nothing. Bing will make a noise when you get to the turn and if you miss your exit Bing will ask to reroute. Also bing follows you exactly and tells you how many miles or feet till your next turn. Plus bing has the updated features like voice, live search, movies, and weather.

do you just want to use google because of the name? Bing is by far better then google maps, but with the old bing google's maps do look better but thats it. who actually stares at a map, bing has way more features.

I'm not inclined to use Google for its name but for its engine!
I tested both Google Maps and Bing side by side on two phones, and I can't say Bing has a better search engine.
For example, I tried to find ski rental shops near where I'm located, and Bing missed a lot of rental shops (with good reviews according to Google or Yelp) around myneighborhood!
Maybe it's because I'm accustomed to Google Maps, but the way search results are arranged is more intuitive in Google Maps than in Bing..

you are correct there are different search results, then that does vary by user preference. I also like the google map search results but i like bing maps better.

Also, how do you zoom in or out from the touch screen in Bing?
There's gotta be an easier way than going to the Menu->Zoom in/out...

Zooming out has been a bit of an issue, but to zoom in, I'm pretty sure it's just a double tap. I miss the direction pad on my Touch "classic." Just click the button and up or down to zoom in or out.

Ok. Maybe I should give it a try too, but looks like Windows Live Search is a web-based search.
Is there a standalone widget or app for Windows Live Search too?

I think (and I might be wrong) he's just comparing what Bing currently is, to what it used to be.

Before Bing was called Bing, it was just "Windows Live Search."

Call me whatever you want, but the eye candy of the newer Bing is a definite plus for me. I use both and split about evenly, but I'm liking Bing more everyday.

Re: Google Maps Mobile vs. Bing for Mobile

Live search was better when I wanted to find a movie, I could tell it how far away to search. It would also list them by movie or theater, and by picking a movie it would tell me where it was showing. The new BING is much more difficult to use IMHO.

Re: Google Maps Mobile vs. Bing for Mobile

Quick question about Bing: it's telling me it can't locate me? Is this a GPS issue? And, when I first tried the search for "movies" our local theater came up (which surprised me!), but now it's not listed??
