Windows 6.5.3 running with demo. Is this what Sprint was waitin for to release a ROM?

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5.3 shown off very, very quietly By Chris Ziegler http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.en...writer_rss.gif posted Jan 9th 2010 12:56PM Hands-On http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.en...icon_photo.gif Say, for a moment, that you're Microsoft and you're on the cusp of releasing a version of the much-maligned Windows Mobile 6.5 that actually made it touch-friendly for once -- but like all WinMo versions before it, you're relying on carriers and manufacturers to wage an inexcusably slow, arbitrary, incomplete upgrade campaign. Wouldn't you think that quietly burying its launch amongst a sea of more interesting (and less controversial) products might be a good idea? Indeed, that appears to be the angle Microsoft is taking at CES by discreetly showing off a Toshiba TG01 and Pharos Traveller loaded with the long-rumored 6.5.3 with "tiles" along the bottom and finger-friendly adjustments throughout the UI. As far as we can tell, this truly is what 6.5 should've been -- in our quick look, we're finally comfortable not having a stylus handy, even on a resistive display. It's still not pretty, but this is a case where function is at least earning its money trying to trump form. http://www.engadget.com/photos/micro...603099#2603102 |

No. Sprint will release a 6.5 rom long before a 6.5.3 rom.
It would be nice if they prove me wrong though. But if you REALLY wanna have some 6.5.3 love for Sprint...try Mal's ROM. I'm using it, it is awesome, and it is getting updated tomorrow. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=102276 |
Re: Windows 6.5.3 running with demo. Is this what Sprint was waitin for to release a
the likelihood that sprint will update with 6.5.3 is more slim than a skeleton
considering that this build is specifically designed for capacitive touch screens, you will probably never see something official for this build on a resistive touch screen device sprint and wm 6.5 who knows |
Re: Windows 6.5.3 running with demo. Is this what Sprint was waitin for to release a
If I were running Sprint that will be last out of the box with the 6.5 upgrade, I'd definitely want to do something to make it special. But since Sprint is running Sprint, I suppose its users can expect an old build with no improvements to Touchflo, or perhaps no ROM update at all.
In fact, knowing Sprint, who knows. Maybe it will decide not to release any updates just to spite the users who really want it and have been begging for it. You know, sort of how Sprint made news a couple years ago by "firing" users it thought complained too much. Sort of resembles Congress' attitude towards the American people, actually. If it's the same Sprint I fired a few years ago, I wouldn't doubt it. If they do release the update, they'll be doing it begrudgingly. :D |

6.5.3 will be the last upgrade for the life of tp2.
