what is a .cab?
 

Here is a NOOBILICIOUS question..

What is a .cab?? I mean I have seen a lot of .cab files being talked about, like Spbackup.cab, etc. If i want a .cab and it is zipped, and i saved it to my PC, and unzipped it, what do i do with that. cab file. Can I just copy it to my storage card? If I do, how do i install it or get access to it through the phone??

For example, I want to download a .cab that backsup my contacts and documents. How do I install the .cab??

A cab is basically an install file for an application, settings or programs.

On your computer, it will open up in WinRAR, but on your phone, it will install something.

People are crazy over cabs because they want everything to be as easy as just installing a file, rather than editing settings or flashing.

yeah its basically a one step install, copy it to your sd card (i have my cabs in a folder) go to file explorer find the file click it, it will open a screen asking to save on device or storage card, then program is installed.
