Are TP2 webbrowsers slow at processing?
I was wondering if you guys knew if Opera or IE on the TP2 are slow browsers? I have used the iPhone's browser and it seems to load and process pages quicker. Wifi or 3g it always seems slower.
I know it's not the speed because when I wifi tether I can get pretty fast speeds on my laptop. So I thought it must be the browser is very resource hungry. Is this true and is there a more efficient browser? |
Re: Are TP2 webbrowsers slow at processing?
The iPhone has a faster processor. The browser is also based on WebKit, which I'd say is better than the Presto (Opera) engine

IE is much improved over the previous version, but is very slow. Opera and Skyfire while not lightning fast and much faster than IE.

Is there a webkit browser for the TP2? Out of all the phones out there like Pre, Hero, Droid, does the iPhone have the fastest browser?

Re: Are TP2 webbrowsers slow at processing?
I believe the dorthy browser is based on webkit but I keep going back to opera mobile mini 5 beta 2. The quickest browser right now for wm. Also the rendering is not bad either. Skyfire is the most feature rich but slower. Opera mobile 10 beta 2 is also good. The problem with apple is that your stuck with one browser. In a perfect world one browser should do all but that's not true with mobile phones; not yet anyway.

Re: Are TP2 webbrowsers slow at processing?
Oh. I tried windows explorer just now on the lastest rom from mighty and it still sucks. I also did a test with a wifi enable apple touch gen 2 and my tp2 with opera mobile 5 beta 2 on verizons network and the tp2 can hold it's ground with apple when it comes to page rendering.

Re: Are TP2 webbrowsers slow at processing?
Does Opera mobile mini beta 2 download only the mobile version of webpages? Is that why it is faster? If I try this can I revert back to Opera 9.5. I am on the newest MightyRom and it loads Opera 9.5 as default.
Scared to break something that works! |
