Re: Touch pro 2 usb defect thread

btw I always carefully plug in my USB adn car charger and carefully unplug it and i never ask anyone else to do ti for me. I bet using a car charger while talkng on it and pulling it out at non straight angles contributes to the bad design problem

i've had issues where if you even barely touch the usb cable it will loose its connection. Doesnt seem the connection is very well made to begin with. I've bought cheap stuff with better connections then this.

I have had my TP2 scene last Sept. and my USB port is just as solid as the day I bought it, I think they real trick here is to not use the phone while its plugged and and don't jerk the cable. I am pretty sure USB slots issues are about 95% end user issues.

Re: Touch pro 2 usb defect thread

I had to replace my phone because of a faulty USB connection: it was loose and the wall charger would make it start Active Sync and freeze. I also think there was something wrong with the "charging" part of the plug as well because I could never see charging information on the phone: it would report that it has never been charged. I've only had it for five months before it began to freeze all the time upon reboot.

Something was wrong with the phone, for sure.

Usb connecter on this phone sucks I am losing connect to the internet all the time. I have to plug it in about 10 or 15 time during a day since I use it for internet connection when i work. This design sucks ass!! I am never buying another phone with a usb connector as a charger.

guess you'll be going back to flip phones then, pretty much all phones have a all in one connector and maybe a 3.5mm audio if you are lucky.

my phone JUST started doing this... and when I do get the PC to charge/sync the phone, I take it off and I have to turn the phone off and back on to get it to go online again.

I would have bought your analysis if we were back in 2000. I can understand how it may affect the battery, but the usb port? I would understand if it was a couple of usb defects now and then, but it seems that it affects mainly HTC phones in general. I read a couple of post on the HTC Hero and I know the same issue was on the Touch Pro- cause i had one. Now, with the Touch Pro 2.... I have emailed HTC and the recommend a hard reset... didn't work for me. So, i don't agree with that it is 95% end user issue- i would point that figure that it is 99% HTC issue.

Re: Touch pro 2 usb defect thread

i had the problem on my mogul, but not the TP2

i think the issue is the HTC port isnt a proper USB port, and the USB mini-B plug fits slightly loosely in there, so if you move it around or use the phone while its plugged in it damages the port

i think thats why HTC started putting the HTC-shaped plugs in instead of a mini-B, i actually bought 2 more in ebay (one for work and one for my laptop bag) and they work better with my mogul with the wonky port too
