With my phone tethered to my laptop I ran the test on speedtest.net and got:

1.4 Mbps download
.61 Mbps upload

I wanted to run a test on my phone (using 3g connection) at work so Installed skyfire and ran a test with the following results which are impossible: (thinking there was a problem with the flash in skyfire)

I believe with skyfire all websites are rendered on there servers then resized and sent to your phone, so you basically speedtested there server and not your phone's internet connection :P

Use IE and this website, http://www.mobilespeedtest.com/ its more accurate.
