proximity sensor
has anyone noticed that sometimes when you take your face away from the phone, the proximity sensor blinks the screen once before coming back on fully...
i just noticed it today.. is my prox sensor broken?? thanks. |
Re: proximity sensor
Not here but I do notice when I'm on a call, if I pull my face away for a slit second my screen will turn on but wont turn back off. I need to give it a full second, It may be due to polling intervals.

Re: proximity sensor
havent noticed that, but i have noticed that on some custom ROMs that functionality is disable completely, so might just be your ROM

Re: proximity sensor
i am stock rom...
could it be my magnetic case.. could that have jacked up the proximity sensor.. i have an HTC case from best buy though... is it possible my proximity sensor is jacked up??? |

Re: proximity sensor
this is stock.. i haven't flashed anything.. i just got this phone last week on the 31..
it was working fine before... shoot.. |
Re: proximity sensor
I havent noticed any blinking before the screen turns back on. It just comes back on. And then turns off if i cover the sensor again.
If it's only happening to you sometimes maybe you have something installed thats cause it to stutter?? |
Re: proximity sensor
for some reason now it is working perfectly again... perhaps my face grease screwed it up???? hahaha.. i don;t know...
|
Re: proximity sensor
could the magnet be the culprit???
can a magnet affect the proximity sensor??? |
Re: proximity sensor
u had the phone for 5 days now, its time to flash
|
Re: proximity sensor
haha.. i wish i only knew hot to flash.. i would prolly screw it up
|
Re: proximity sensor
i don't know, but i never put magnets near my device. people complain about them waking up their phones from sleep (htc phones) or even changing the ringer profile (blackberry)... doesn't sound like something i'd want near my tp2.
Btw, i'd wait until your 30days is up before you flash. just in case things go horribly wrong for no reason with the device. When you're ready, just follow the tutorials in the cdma upgrade section (if youre on sprint) for unlocking the phone. then its easy to just flash any rom whenever you want after that. |
Re: proximity sensor
but this is the oem htc case

Re: proximity sensor
Regarding the Proximity Sensor function on my stock ROM Verizon TP2:
Lately, when I make a call, the display turns off, but if I then pull it away, most of hte time it won't turn on at all, regardless of how long I wait. I can hit the on/off button on top, and it will turn the display back on. And if it does turn back on, it shows the Notification Screen, not the phone function. What are the Registry entries that control this function? I don't want to turn it off, but I want to see what the settings are, and if they need to be adjusted. I'm not aware of any settings in the phone proper that control this function. Again, stock ROM, with the major tweaks being the Proxy CAB to save some memory usage, along with a variety of registry changes (to remove Bluetooth turnoff notification, Sent Message notification, etc.). |

Re: proximity sensor
hey reyrey did you install some kind of lock program? that caused my proximity sensor to have the same exact behavior as you described. I disabled it and it went back to normal.
