The G2 is an Android Phone(your posting in the TP2/WinMO section).... youll have to be Rooted first if you wanna Tether I believe... unless you wanna Pay for EasyTether or maybe PDANet... Im rooted and you AndroidTether.. works for me...

Also if your gonna want her G2 to be able to see ad-hoc connections, youll need to replace the wpa_supplicant file as well..

Thank you. Android is completely foreign to me. I was hoping there might be a G2 specific place on here like for the TP2 but I cant seem to find anything. Any chance you can give me a link(s) to where to get started.

z4 Root.. it used to be in the Market i believe.. if not, [APP] z4root - xda-developers

youll Root, then install the .apk from Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code

boom! wifi tether for Free!

for being able to see ad-hoc(say wifi from like a TP2 or something) you need a replacement wpa_supplicant file(attached).. move that using ANdroid Mate or ROOT Explorer to system/bin, paste.. reset.. all good

Thank you for the info. From the looks of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953 it doesnt look like this will work for her phone (also known as Desire) though. But I have found alot of other info. Guess I need to do some reading.
