Re: Could Windows mobile 7 be for real
With higher hardware demands, M$ should just scrap it and make a strip down mobile version of win95 or Xp

Re: Could Windows mobile 7 be for real
WM7 is real. And the TP2 will not support it. Move to HD2 if you are hoping (and leave CDMA while you are at it...) It'll 6-8 months before it hits but no question... it will hit and it will happen. Look to the upcoming Mobile conference for annoucements.

Re: Could Windows mobile 7 be for real
as i posted on the 2nd page tp2 will not get winmo 7. Somebody will probably cook it but it will be too laggy for everyday use. Conflipper posted the medium specs for winmo 7 which are below. tp2 will not ever have winmo 7 from windows unless somebody rips it but it will still be unuasable. original post here.
WM7 is based on CE OS 7, not CE OS 6, any CDMA device that we have right now WILL NOT support WM7. Needs to be Snapdragon chipset, or OMAP V3 or V4, no Qualcom chipset that is 7xxx series. they will not work with it at all. Will they get hacked to work. NO What will be needed? Bootloader, Kernal, XIP, everythingl. So that TP2 that you just bought last week. It will not run WM7 at all. and 6.5 End of Life is in February. So you have 5 months of upgrades on your new device. __________________ Conflippers Alltel ROMS If you want to thank me for work I have done in past or now, feel free to donate

Re: Could Windows mobile 7 be for real
Microsoft has stated that once WM7 is released they will continue with updates down the 6.x path as well as the new WM7.x path.
There is a lot that can be read into this. If they are going to continue down both paths it would suggest that WM7 is not going to be very friendly when it comes to backwards compatibility. It doesn't sound good for upgrades either, especially since there has been a great deal of confusion as to whether or not the HD2 will even get an upgrade, and it is pretty commonly accepted that if any WM6.5 devices did get it, the HD2 would be the only one, and that is looking less and less likely all the time. Remeber, HTC Russia announce that the HD2 would get a WM7 upgrade, then very abruptly withdrew that statement. Add to this all the technical aspects, such as a new OS version at the core, and the published minimum hardware specs for WM7....there's not a hope in hell.
