Do they even make a 1a peak 12v adapter? 500ma might still cause battery drain w/ WiFi on.

Unfortunately not that I know of. It is a new arrival, maybe the 1kmah will come shortly?

It looks like its lipped, so you'll probably need strong nails to pluck that sucker out

Have you ever been on a roadtrip with your friends? laptops + wifirouter = awsome time.
Back when I had my TP, I used it on a 140 mile trip while the GPS was on. If it wasnt for the AC, she probably would have melted, lol

Belkin has a similar unit that provides 1 Amp. Do an Amazon search for Belkin low-profile USB Micro Auto Charger.

I've used the Belkin for the last 6 months or so and really like it. Amazon has it for $14.25 right now, but that's a bit more than the 2.39 for the 500mA ones.

So the 500mA one for sure would charge the Touch Pro 2? Or would it just sustain the battery without charging it?

It will charge the TP2. I dont think the TP2 discharges at 500ma when idle.

It will trickle charge the phone (slow), but if are using GPS and Bluetooth, making a lot of calls, or otherwise drawing a lot of power, then you need the 1A charger.

The problem isn't finding a 1A charger. They are everywhere. The unique feature that is bringing people to this thread is the small, "flush mount" size of the charger.

I picked up a similar one on ebay for a few bucks. I use it quite a bit, and it works great.
