TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

I have been looking around the site and have similar problems, but nothing like this.

I got my TP2, Downloaded MightyRom for it, proceeded to flash it, and sometime during the process it shut off and has not come on since, no lights no nothing. Nothing on the screen and no charge light when it’s plugged in.

I tried the hard reset, got nothing.
I downloaded the stock ROM for the phone, but I can’t seem to get my PC to recognize the phone.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

If you can get it to power up you can reflash it from the SD Card.

Take battery out and put it back in and charge it.

See stickies for details on how to flash from SD Card.

There is a good chance you can revive it.

Did you unlock the phone first with the hard SPL unlock?... Or did you go straight to flashing Mighty's ROM?

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I have tried to power it on with the battery out and plugged in, battery in and plugged in, battery in and not plugged in. Still no lights on the phone.

I did try and unlock the phone first with Hard SPL. (thats where it dumped on me)

Side note:
I plugged it into another computer and my PC is asking me for a Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM driver.
So from what it looks like, the PC does recognize the phone. But active sync doesn't recognize it, nor does it show up as any of my drives on the PC.

Did you make sure you were using the CDMA unlocker? There's a GSM one that can brick your phone if you try to use it.

As far as the device connecting to your PC, it won't need active sync to re-flash. If it installed that driver, try flashing the stock rom to it.

Where do I find the driver for it? It doesn't seem to be on the CD that the phone came with.

The file that I used to try and unlock it was the
Raphael_CDMA_VZW_HSPL_035.zip

You used the wrong HSPL, Raphael is the GSM TP1, the TP2 is a Rhodium. Good luck getting it unbricked.

Edit: Get the correct unlocker here: http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/hard-spl.php sorry I can't be of anymore help.

Ok, but it was still the wrong HSPL which is why his TP2 is now bricked.

yeah im a little confused how you possibly mucked that one up... touch pro unlocker is in the tp forum and touch pro2 unlocker is in this tp2 forum... sucks for you but you should've paid more attention. The whole process needs to be followed exactly and unfortunately you learned that the hard way. Goodluck fixing it.

I don't understand how people get software from a completely different section of the site and assume it works for their phone.

Eschelon 12-31-2009 02:51 PM

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

It looks like you have only 2 options at this point:

1) Go to this thread and download the correct unlocker and try to unlock the phone again. It's a crap shoot, but it doesn't hurt to at least try at this point, right?

2) If the above solution doesn't work, you last hope is to head down to the Verizon store, play dumb and pretend that the phone died all on its own, and try to get a new device sent. Whatever you do, DO NOT mention that you tried to unlock it!! Doing so will force them to void the warrany and require you to pay full price for a new phone (like 600 bucks!!)

lmaoooooooooooo, dude. your screwed, that was way off on the right unlcoker...... You have yet to mention if you can put it in bootloader by holding volume down and power...... If so try and flash that Rhodium relocker or unlocker which ever may work and see what happens...

I am sorry though for ya luck.......

There should be a post-number requirement to DL anything in the upgrades forum. Not too many, maybe just 30 or so. Not trying to bash n00bs or anything, but there should be a mandatory edumacation period before anyone is allowed to flash anything. I think many phones' lives could be spared this way.

Good luck to the OP, and for god's sake don't flash anything that isn't labeled RHODIUM CDMA from now on, lol...

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

I did the exact same thing to my phone except I had all the downloads carefully saved to my computer and when I was originally organizing everything I put it in the wrong folder. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps and nothing.

Troubleshooting steps so far - Device won't turn on, won't charge:
1. Verified battery is fully charged in my old TP2
2. Tried to boot into boot loader - vol down + reset button, nothing.
3. Tried plugging phone into my Windows 7 laptop, get this unknown device in Device Manager called "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"
4. Tried funky combinations - top power+ reset button, Power+reset, volup+voldown+reset nothing.

If anyone's come across a fix I'd really appreciate it. Called Asurion and they said that they won't support it because it's a software problem and they only cover loss or physical damage.

Hmmm do you ride a motorcycle? I was riding on the expressway once and the phone rang. I normally look at it, if I think it's important I pull over to answer it, if not, I just put it back in my pocket. Well, one time I missed the pocket. :???: I pulled over to go get it after traffic had cleared. I think the semi that ran it over might have made the job harder than it should have been. :evil4: But they replaced it with a refurb that worked well. Now I am not telling you to go do this, but sometimes accidents can happen to the best of us. ;)

Look, to hard reset, you don't hold the volume down and reset down simultaneously; but you hold 3 buttons down: The volume down, the green call answer button & the red call end button. All at once and hold down for several seconds. Might help to take the back off the phone to ensure you make good contact when you press the volume down button.

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

TopgunCKD,

The drivers you need should be included in a download of ActiveSync 4.5 (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows 7). If you are running Windows 7, I seem to recall that allowing Windows to check online for drivers will find it.

Once the PC loads the driver and you connect the phone, the phone will appear to be dead, but is connected in a special diagnostic mode, even though you may not see any outward signs of life from the phone.

Run the correct unlocker (http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/hard-spl.php) and go from there. Good luck, and read the description of everything you download for your phone carefully - Remember that there are a few different (and incompatible) versions of software for phones that look very similar and are named very similarly.

If this helped, don't forget to hit the 'Thanks' button!

My windows 7 machine was able to find and install the drivers. I'd recommend seeing if you can get the mobile center reinstalled on your PC.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...-download.mspx

Your PC should be able to find them as well.

As was mentioned, if all else fails... try for a insurance replacement with a snapped screen.

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Tried the green+red+voldown forthree seconds, five seconds, twenty seconds nothing.

Tried plugging my VZW TP2 into a Windows XP 32-bit machine with ActiveSync 4.5 freshly installed, still getting "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" with status "drivers for this device are not installed" in Device Manager. Tried it again on my 7 64-bit machine, no dice. Cannot run any relocker or unlocker or even the stock system upgrade, they all don't find the phone.

Re: TP2, 3 days old and I bricked it.

It would work if you could install the drivers.

Try going to the device manager on the PC when the phone is plugged in and manually updating the drivers, then once installed, run the corresponding relocker for the unlocker you ran. You are making this more difficult by not concentrating on getting the drivers on the PC.

Whats weird is that you must have had them installed to flash the unlocker. Don't wuss out and give up!

Sorry I wasn't clear, that's the very first thing I tried. When the phone is working properly, the drivers are automatically installed and detected when you plug in with USB. This is my warranty replacement for a keyboard backlight issue. On my working Touch Pro2 I'm supposed to send back soon the phone is detected and syncs with Windows just fine. On the bricked phone the "Qualcomm CDMA MSM" whatever shows in device manager. I tell it to update the driver on both XP x32 with ActiveSync 4.5 and 7 x64 with Windows Mobile Device Center by automatically searching my computer and Windows Update for the driver but it can't find it.
