Can I use HTC Touch Pro2 Sprint with my local CDMA carrier?

Guys, please help me.
I'm from Uzbekistan.
I bought my Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 2 days ago from ebay.
I want to use it with my local CDMA carrier.
GSM worked without any problem, and it also supports 3G here. No problem with that.
But I also want to use it with local CDMA carrier.
My previous phone was HTC Diamond CDMA and it worked with the carrier here. But I think it was unlocked one.
Do I have to unlock something in TP2?
How do I do it?
Thank you in advance!

First of all please post it in the correct section. This section is only for ROM upgrades and such.

To answer your question, it depends. If your carrier supports having the phone "worked" on using certain software (can't mention it here) and have the authority to authorize the ESN of the phone into their network then I guess it'll be just fine.

Re: Can I use HTC Touch Pro2 Sprint with my local CDMA carrier?

I'm sorry I didn't pay attention.
Gonna post it there too.
There won't be any problem with ESN as there wasn't any with my HTC Diamond CDMA.
But then do I have to unlock anything in my TP2?
Last time when I took my HTC Diamond2 the tech guys requested $50 to unlock it. Then I talked to them through my friend who asked them to do it for free.
Sorry I'm completely noob. And I don't want to pay any extra cost.

Moved to the Touch Pro 2 forum.

My previous Diamond CDMA worked perfectly with local carrier.
But when I installed Sprint ROM onto my Sprint Mogul, the tech guys in the carrier's office couldn't register the phone on the cdma network. I guess it was locked then. That's why I wonder if CDMA radio or whatever on the TP2 is also locked.

Re: Can I use HTC Touch Pro2 Sprint with my local CDMA carrier?

I'm guessing it will work if you ahd a previous phone that worked. My understanding is Sprint phones are not locked. You may need to have your tech guys put all the right configurations on it though for it to work.

Just flash one of the ROMS with no carrier provisioning, or a generic ROM that isn't tied to any specific carrier.

By the way, the software used to provision phones for another network is totally legit and legal. not sure why someone else said they couldn't mention it here but I will. It's called houdinisoft and you can get it from:
http://www.houdinisoft.com/

But I don't know if your carrier is one of the ones built into it or not. So you might have to manually enter settings and such. But the software should walk you through it and you can get the settings from your carrier's support. Maybe email houdinisoft and ask them if it will work for you first...

I dunno I thought you had to unlock Sprint phones to work on another network...I have a Sprint TP1 (cdma) and had to unlock it so I could then flash it to work on Cricket (cdma carrier).

Yeah it might be locked. I don't know if they are locked or not. I don't think Sprint will give him any trouble if he calls them to unlock it though.

He should post in the Spint section over at howard forums. There are a bunch of Sprint employees over there and someone will probably unlock it for him if he needs it unlocked.

He can also unlock it himself but I dont know if a GSM phone is compatible to work on a CDMA network. From what lil bit of knowledge I have you can't...I may be wrong...also he might want to ask over on xda cuz I was told they deal more with GSM over there.

Dude, he has a Sprint CDMA phone, he said the sim (for the worldphone part works ok)

I would think it would need to be unlocked, I belive the stickies on the top of the forum would unlock it, but not sure what they would have to do to allow it to work though

He said he bought the Sprint Touch Pro 2, so it has CDMA and GSM. The GSM part I know is already unlocked, for sure. But he said he was going to use it on a CDMA carrier, so I don't know if the CDMA is unlocked or not.

How can I unlock my HTC TP2 Sprint?
I read the article about flashing ROMs but I still didn't understand how to do it.
What is needed to unlock?
Please, help me. I don't want to pay extra $50 to unlock it. My HTC Diamond CDMA was registered perfectly.

You are right. GSM part works perfectly! No need to unlock! HSDPA, 3G all works perfectly. I also want to use it on a CDMA carrier.

Anyone that has flashed a Sprint phone to Cricket or Metro or any other carrier can probably tell you what you need. I'm surprised nobody that fits that description has chimed in on this thread yet.

Just look at everyones carrier near their user name and if you see someone using Cricket or Metro and ask them what you need to do.

Re: Can I use HTC Touch Pro2 Sprint with my local CDMA carrier?

For CDMA, unlocking doesn't have anything to do with flashing. You just need the MSL and know how to get into the programming instructions. There are a variety of ways to get the MSL, either trying to find it through the phone or using various techniques to get Sprint to tell it to you. I haven't needed it on mine though, so I haven't tried anything. Here's a thread that might help:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...&highlight=msl

You'll also need to sort out how to get the PRL for the carrier on the phone.

Mine was a sprint cdma tp1 had to unlock it first then I flashed Drunks cricket rom ( carrier specific) found the nationwide prl put it on my sd card updated through phones programing menu gave cricket my esn and activated my phone did ota programing and got the updated prl since the one I used was nationwide not for my specific area.
Honestly it was pretty easy with help I got here as well as on howardforums.com the people here are really friendly some not so friendly at hofo...I asked a friend who works flashing phones and he said something about hacks needed for the world edition tp2 I can ask again where to find em.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you...I hope this helps a little.

I found out my MSL 6 digit code today!
Now I can access the EPST to enter the PRL or whatever they call it.
Gonna take it to the carrier tomorrow.
I think there shouldn't be any problem with ESN. 'Cause my previous phone was also Sprint branded HTC Diamond CDMA. Moreover, the carrier is accepting Sprint branded HTC Hero.
Hope they ain't gonna make a problem.
Thank you very much.
Gonna post the results tomorrow!

I went to the CDMA carrier's office and told them I've got the 6 digit number.
I don't think finding out from forums how to acquire the MSL code is worth $50.
Now they're gonna install the PRL for $10!
That's great!
I'm saving $40!
Thank you guys very much. You really helped me.
