Hey guys I just replaced my sense 2.5 messaging with sense 2.1's messaging client.

Works GREAT! No lagg at all!!

awesome and easy to apply. I simply downloaded Total Commander and overwrited all the files. Take all the files out of all the subfolders from the zip and put them in the windows folder without the subfolders you put the people_pages.xml in /windows/manilaxml
You dont need to worry about the reg file as I didn't run it and it works fine.
Anyone know what the reg file does?

because of how integrated it is, without reverting back to the old winmo texting screen. also with the mms fix, its very VERY appealing.

Well I still prefer the 2.1 messaging because its lagg free.

I guess its because I dont send mms?

Its working on Impact, what rom are u using?

I just tried the cab on mighty's impact rom...and it doesnt work....

The good thing is, uninstalling the cab will bring back 2.5 messaging app and not screw up anything.

I'm so used to 2.5 messaging (albeit laggy), I forgot what 2.1 looks like. What's it missing that 2.5 has? I work around the lag in 2.5, but if they're essentially the same, then why not downgrade to fix the lag.

I'd like to have 2.1 messaging with 2.5's "All Messages" screen. Does anyone know if that's possible? The only really laggy part about 2.5 for me is when I actually open a thread. It takes it between 4 and 9 seconds to render the thread, and the scrolling is really jerky. But the All Messages screen works great.

I really don't see what the big advantage of the 2.5 threads is. Sure, it supports having pictures right in it, but I didn't mind having it launch arcsoft. I really don't like how the entry field scrolls down off the screen. I preferred 2.1's static entry field.

I gota agree with you 100%!!

2.5 im sure works great on HD2, but is useless on the TP2 imo.

I would rather avoide the lagg and NOT have picutres. Pictures are usless if u dont mms anyways.

i thought the lag prob exists when you get a bunch of texts on the hd2 too...

I've tried the cab didn't work. I uninstalled it and re-installed and it didn't work. I tried to manually move the files like it said in the first post on the xda thread it still didnt work. I get the same white screen where the messaging app is supposed to be shown in each way I try to do this.

I'm using Mighty's Impact rom btw.

So when you hit the message on the touchflow to reply it shows a white screen for a second? I don't think it is set up for replying like that you have to hit the menu button and reply at the bottom right of the screen then messaging will open.

Could be talking about two totally seperate things I guess...

How does the contacts tab work if you have your favorites defaulted to SMS? Does it still work?

When you tap the message in the message tab you should be able to see the message and other messages from the same person, as well as a box to reply in. When I do this I get the grey/black slider at the bottom and the rest of the screen where the messages are supposed to be is white. At this point Sense UI has crashed. I would have to soft reset the phone to get Sense UI to work again.

For me EVERYTHING works like befor.

only difference is I dont get pictures in it.


Oh well.

Everything else works 100% like 2.5 without lagg.

The last cab on the XDA site worked for me (the one with the disable 2.5 messaging included) but it didn't replace the 2.5 client with the 2.1 client, it was different alltogether.. the graphics were very small and difficult to read and it stopped showing my contributions to the threads...I think this is a great idea but maybe it just needs more work?

This fixed worked for me. I have a Verzion tp2 running Mighty's WAR 122809. The text is small because the files used to replace the existing ones are configured for a VGA display and not a WVGA which the tp2 has.
