Questions About Verizon RHOD500

Ok I have I guess what Is the New Verizon RHOD500 I have a few questions For a noob here I like Modding my phone. OK sorry if this has been asked somewhere else

1. What is the Purpose of putting a different rom on the phone? and can the original be saved to replace so that if you had to send back.

2 how can i tell if it is unlocked? i do have a Sim card and have been able to do the ##778 and look at settings i was told that the Sim card was for storage. Or if i went over seas i t would switch to the Sim card. I think this is all the Stupid questions for now as iam interested in putting a rom on my phone. but would like step by step info so i dont brick it

The purpose of unlocking and flashing is so that you can have the whatever you want on you phone and not just what the phone comes with. You can install a ROM that has 6.5 or 6.5.x or one without TouchFlo. The idea is that your phone is not limited the the original OS version/setup that is on the phone when you got it.

You can always flash back to the stock ROMs they are listed here

You can check if your phone has been unlocked by going into the bootloader (vol- power and reset ). If you see SPL-1.00.OliNex then you phone is unlocked.

If your phone is not unlocked then
Follow the steps listed in this thread to unlock, and when you find a ROM that you want to flash. Just follow the steps in that. Thread.

ok what i see is a multi color screen has RHOD500 32M SS-BC SPL-0.63.0000 So i would take it that it is locked

Yes, its locked. The unlocking process is very easy, and quick, just read all the directions, and THEN follow them

Shame Ya cant do it On a mac I will have to hunt down a pc and give it a try So if I read right you have to unlock then add mighty rom and thats it so far as I can read You guys are Great I have been reading for days nice to be in a place where the help is right at the finger tips

I just want Simple LOL thats all LOL so unlock then flash the new rom anything else i should know? Like dont forget to feed the gerbil etc... LOL

After flashing your new ROM and before setting it up do a hard reset through the menu
Start->settings->system-Clear storage (sometimes called wipe device)

ok so far got in unlocked new rom (mightyrom war...) just cleared memory Does seem like a long time to boot phone is this normal? now what can i do with it LOL ok now what. I didnt like bootcamp seems it locked up on me before not sure why
