Can you make virtual keyboard not show up as default?

With a physical keyboard available, I prefer to use it whenever possible to enter text.
So, the virtual keyboard that pops up on the screen when TP2 recognizes that there is text to enter only takes up the screen real property and doesn't do much when I choose to use the physical keyboard.

Can you make it so that the virtual keyboard does not pop up as default and only pops up when I press the keyboard icon at the bottom?

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.5(Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/16643; U; en) HTC_Touch_Pro2)

Look in the MightyRom files that has all the cabs. This was brought up in his thread a few days ago and someone posted a "Disable SIP Keyboard Popup" cab in his thread. You might want to search for it. Im on my phone, or I'd do it for you.

Turn Off Keyboard from Automatically Popping Up

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\

Create or change DWORD TurnOffAutoDeploy to a value of 1

That worked like a charm!

I went in to make this change in Total Commander, and the keyboard popped up when I accidentally tried to rename a folder. I searched for the registry entry, found it, and it was already tuned to 1.

Any other suggestions?

HD Tweak works also.

I had similar experience. The registry edit suppressed the virtual keyboard from popping up in most circumstances, but sometimes it popped up nonetheless. I guess the registry edit is not perfect, but at least it does the job in about 80-90% of the time.

There's an old cab running around called NULLKB. It makes a "dummy" entry that can be set as default and will catch all of the attempts to use a softkeyboard and display nothing.

You might have to google for it, but it's out there.

The registry tweak works "most" of the time, but nullKB is failproof. :)

If you install that cab, can you still use the virtual keyboard by tapping the little icon? I don't want my keyboard popping up all the time, but I still want to be able to use it if I want.
