Touch Pro vs Pro2 and more questions! please help.
Is there many people that have had both?
I need to know, if you had the Pro, then if you thought going to the pro2 is worth the $$. Background problems... I had the PPC 6800 titan, loved it. I'd flashed it a few times, had a chance to sell it and move on... so I did. yet, I thought the pro would be an upgrade, really it wasnt. sure there were some neater OS flashings going on, but I aint really as happy with the pro, cant get the GPS to work until 20 minutes after you try to get it to start, about the time the battery is dead.. So I been trying roms, Im on mighty rom, same issues, except 1st 2 days after Mightyrom and I had tried the PPC geeks kitchens, well it ran seemingly ok, then when I started my trip, about 10 days later, no dice. everything but hard reset has been tried so far. Im waiting to see if I want to try another OS flash or, just dump the device and move on. Im still unhappy, except now VZW bought out allTel in our area. So the my touch Pro is now having hard times even making calls or working with VZW. {I assume because it is an alltel version, and that is the way VZW is going to treat us former alltel phone users} So anyway, I look around, I can buy a pro2 ready for VZW, not as cheaply, yet IMHO buying it outright, is cheaper than having verizon double my month to month contracts... Should I do it, you think? I mean are the TP2's: much better or barely better or NOT better than the TP1? Any advice to a HTC user, that still likes the ideas of the HTC, just not sure I can take another FLUSHING of $$ to end up the same friggin place? I want my GPS and after that, I would be happy to be able to make & take calls, D@mmit! lol Thanks in advance you all!! ;-) |

I know you're a n00b... But bro... You really need to use the search feature. This would save you lots of time and it would allow us to help someone else who needs help.
There are several threads like this one. Long story short... Most of us who have gone from pro to pro2 have never regreted it. Some have. Do some reading and you'll surely find your answer. p. |

I'll take the beating, I swear I just dont win at searching, I searched and I seem to "hide" the results everything comes up unrelated... I did read where Omina users like the pro2, but hell I never seen an omina...

At least offer him some advice too. If useful information is only posted ONCE in the forum, when people go looking all they're going to find is endless pages of information. He isn't really going to find an exact, personal answer by searching. That said: Yes, please look around next time, BUT... I just got my TP2 a while ago after having TEN Touch Pros since last October. Needless to say, everything "just works." My only complaint about the thing so far is that I miss the home key, and the windows key on mine is hard to press and doesn't provide feedback - it's probably broken but this is a refurb so I'll live with it till any more major problems show up - if they ever do. It's been a few weeks and I love it. The battery life is considerably better, the build quality is tons better, it's faster, and most importantly IT JUST WORKS. Google maps AGPS works. Sprint navigation works. SMS works. Calling works. Everything I try just works. The stock ROM is awesome. I was running build 28015 on my TP, which I miss. It's sucked adapting to WM 6.1 again but I don't want to lose the perfection of the stock ROM. I have not had to soft reset it since I got the phone. The battery doesn't plummet when I'm in a poor service area like the TP used to do. It still drops more quickly but at my parents house, my TP would go from 100% fully charged to 100% totally dead in under two hours (it was one hour and 51 minutes). It took longer to charge it than it did to let it sit in standby and die. The touchscreen is nicer to use, requires less pressure. The thing is just tons better. I haven't run into problems thusfar, nor can I see myself flashing off the stock ROM for quite some time. I'd say make the swap, you'll enjoy it. But it's only been a couple of weeks for me. My discontent for the first TP took about a month (and three replacements) to develop. |

Thanks ShadowDrake!
Reading your post, I conclude that you and I are about the same then! I been pissed about the TP since about 20 days after I bought it, at first I was too niave to decide it wasnt ME! I have had it almost a year now. squezing pennies planning to get a TP2 without contract. I'm about there and thinking to myself, do I really want to piss away that $, I better check around. And with all the reading I DID do, I have already downloaded 15 things for when I do get the tp2, lol! |
Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.5(Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/16643; U; en) HTC_Touch_Pro2)
Wow, cant believe this is even a question. Like the threadstarter I like the 6800 as well. The Touch Pro is a terrible upgrade. Had it for a year. For me, the TP2 is superior in many ways. go with it and definitely worth the money. |
Re: Touch Pro vs Pro2 and more questions! please help.
The Touch Pro 2 has the same "guts" as the Touch Pro. Now if your on Verizon, the Touch Pro 2 will have more RAM as VZW didnt gank the RAM on the TP2 like they did the TP1.
I have had both, and had both VErizon and Sprint. Heres what I think: The TP2 bigger display is very nice. You wouldnt think it at first, but man, once you use it, its pretty damn awesome. The TP2 has a keyboard that is metric crap tons better than the TP keyboard. The TP2 has better battery life (so it seems). I honestly have no data to back this up, but it just seems to run longer than my TP's did. The Tilting display is cool, but I rarely use it... I mean rarely. Usually I only use it to show off to friends... oh... and when I am sitting on the can, I can put my phone on the sink, tilt the display and watch youtube vids (Phillip De Franco!!!!). ;-) Other than that, the phone is the exact same.... same proc, same ram, sam radio, same everything else... just in a different "Shell". |

I run gps. m-f 8 am to usually 4:30 pm . in winters later. Never had a gps issue. my device is sprint.

Sorry bro... I just re read my post and you know... I wasn't trying to kick you in the nads... Just wanted you to know that there are several posts out there like this one and that starting a new thread is usually frowned upon. I am glad others here were helpful. I hope you didn't take me the wrong way. I'm not a troll or anything like that. I would be happy to share my experiences with you... lol. Actually you can read all about them on the other posts. lol. Have fun here and don't take us too seriously bro. Thanks for being a good sport. p. |

I had the 6700, mogul, tp1,and now the tp2. Its definitely worth the upgrade. The battery life is much better and like ShadowDrake said, everything just works. Althought there are some things ghat still did not get fixed. Like the phone getting hot but this only happens to me when im in a poor service area and the phone switches from 1x to EV a lot.
