Only one unlocker? A second option?

It seems people are having alot of trouble with the current CDMA hardSPL unlocker for the TP2 released in oct. After reading some of the major problems some are having I dont know if I want to risk doing it. How do YOU feel about this and is there another way to unlock it for custom Roms? Other than buying an unlocked phone.

I think I'll hold off till some of the kinks are worked out. Or a second unlocker is out there.

Edit: Oops sorry about posting in the wrong spot :(, maybee a mod could move it to HTC TP2 please.

there won't be another unlocker because the work-a-round keeps getting deleted. you have to pay the toll.

its not too bad of a deal but a lot of users that may not have either
windows vista/7 or not downloaded the htc drivers will have some issues unlocking. But if you do, the unlocker isn't getting a huge amount of information beyond your imei, which you give anyway to sim unlock your device anyway!
it was flawless for me

I think that it is a user configuration error and NOT an unlocker problem.

I have used them since 2007 without any problems.

It works with XP also. There are no problems with it other than user error. If you have problems with the unlocker you probably shouldn't be doing anything with it requiring unlocking.

Yeah, my unlocking/flashing experience has been flawless thus far and I've had my TP2 unlocked and flashed since the day I got it about 2 months ago.

i have not had any problems unlocking both of my TP2s. but i agree, there should be other options, there shouldnt be a monopoly on unlocking.

A monopoly suggests that Cmonex and the whole team own the right to unlock HTC phones. Also it's not as if they are charging for its use. A monopoly would suggest that they were charging some price and theoretically could charge a much higher EVEN MILLIONS if they wanted too...........but they aren't so who GAF.

If the OP doesn't want to use the unlocker provided no one is forcing him too. I've been using unlocker's since the Mogul days and have unlocked countless phone's for myself and my boys and never one issue.

-there really isn't much risk involved, if you follow the instructions your phone will be unlocked. simple.

-buying an unlocked phone still won't do you any good unless you're talking about an sercurity unlocked phone which are going to be hard to come by. if you're talking about a phone advertised as unlocked, that's going to be a gsm phone and won't work with sprint and even if it were compatible, good luck convincing them to let you use it.

-there are no kinks to be worked out, those were fixed before it was released to the general public

-don't hold your breath on a second unlocker, obviously you weren't around when EVERY person both here and at xda was waiting on this unlocker. and for good reason, the elite team knows what they are doing... there aren't too many people i would trust with the coding of my $600 phone.

so, i would suggest one of the following:
a.) use the unlocker available to us now...
b.) stop complaining and go back to using a razr...
c.) learn to code yourself, try to make your own unlocker, brick multiple devices, eventually give up and go back to option "a."
