VZW - Mobile Web 3.0 (View Account Balance/Minutes Used etc. in Opera)

Last week I purchased the Omnia 2 so that I could play around with it and check out the differences between the Samsung phone and my VZW Touch Pro 2, I'm not going to go into details about the hardware differences, but there are quite a few differences software wise, one of which I found very convenient. In Opera on the Omnia 2 the homepage is titled VZW Mobile Web 3.0 and you are able to very easily view your plan info, minutes used, texts used, date used etc. I was always looking for a way to do this on my TP2. This can be done in Opera Mobile 10 Beta, or the Opera browser that comes pre-loaded on the VZW TP2 by changing the user agent to that of the Samsung Omnia 2. Also, you cannot access the VZW mobile web from WiFi or if Turbo is enabled in Opera Mobile 10 Beta. To change the Opera User Agent go to the following address:

opera:config

Now you can either search for custom user-agent, or go down to user prefs, and you want to change the user agent to:

Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; Windows CE; Opera Mobi/9.5; U; en) 480x800 SAMSUNG SCH-i920 PPC

Click Save at the bottom of the User-Prefs Section, you will be prompted that some changes don't take effect until the browser is restarted. You can confrim that the User-Agent has been updated by going to the following website:

http://show-ip.net/browserinfo/

After you have confirmed that your user agent has been changed you can enjoy the new VZW homepage by going to:

http://advanced.vzwwap.com

Hope a few of you will find this interesting and useful, if so don't forget to thank my post.

Fantastic work and thanks for posting!

Just an addition, I noticed that the URL you eventually can get to this way can also be viewed with a regularly configured browser (IE or Opera - I haven't tried Skyfire yet). To get to your account information simply go here:

http://spg.vzw.com/sspostmw/forms/myacc.jsp

I'm sure a billion others found that URL long ago, but it's news to me. If it's worth anything, hope it helps. :D :drunken:
